I want to remap keys in the UEI remote to incorporate some protocols from the Yamaha receiver. In particular I would like the appropriate protocols for:
On
Off
Volume up
Volume down
Mute
Video 1 / 2 (toggle)
I did the search function during setup of the UEI, pressing the appropriate keys for 15 minutes but had no glimmer of response from the Receiver.
I noticed that in the Pronto section there are blocks of code for the Yamaha RS-7. That's a smaller receiver but the remote may be the same. I don't know how to derive protocols out of those blocks of figures or I would test them.
Two years ago when I set up the Tivo remote for their Series 2, they helped me map a couple controls from the RS-9 to the Tivo remote. For volume up and down and mute they added 612, 613, 614. They may have gotten these from code 0618. I'm not sure about my notes.
I do have a JP1 cable but I read that my UEI remote uses JP1.1 and cannot use the standard JP1 cable.
I would rather not get involved in the JP1 world even though it would be fascinating. My time is limited.
Thanks so much.
Protocols from Yamaha RS-9 to map keys in UEI

Next time, it would be better if you can provide the links to the files you are referencing. I found this file that has some codes for RS-7. You can use DecodeCCF to find the protocol, device number, and OBC from the CCF file. In that file, there are only 13 commands and it says the protocol used is NEC1, with device number 122. Assuming the RS-9 uses the same codes as RS-7, have you tried device code AUX/0176? That should give you at least the volume up, down, mute, channel up and down, and some of the output (they are on the number keys).
As for the others you asked for, the EFC's (the number you put in for command 994 function) should be:
Power On = 00248
Power Off = 00246

I also found this page where the codes for on and off match the ones that kupakai posted.
These are standard Yamaha codes. According to my data, the Audio/0176 setup code is in both the URC-1058 and URC-1068 Comcast remotes, so even though it's not clear which Comcast remote you have, the chances are good that that code is in it.
