The 9800 uses the older "P8/740" processor and that upgrade file only contains code for the newer "S3C8+" processor. Unless one of the 740 experts can convert that custom protocol for you, you won't be able to use that upgrade unfortunately.

The trouble with this particular upgrade file is that it contains a homemade custom protocol and the author only created a version for the S3C8 remotes (which covers the vast majority of JP1 remotes).

Somebody would have to create another custom protocol for the Mits/740 remotes in order for you to be able to use this upgrade with your URC-9800 remote, and I don't know how likely that is going to happen as we only have one Mits/740 expert (and it's not me! Wink )

That file's got the same problem... it uses a custom protocol for the newer processors and would need to be re-written for your 9800.

I'm having the exact same problem, except I have a URC-8820.

I'm assuming though that it's the same problem - this was designed for the SC38 and my 8820 is actually a HCS08?
