USB cable and laptops

Post by zbrarm »

Any suggestions on how i can keep my usb connection up and running.

Seems the usb driver is very unstable on laptops (i have a dell inspiron 9300). I very often lose the connection. If i try to reconnect ill get sda is beign held low (and yes, i did connect the remote the right way) or unable to open device. Most times i will have to reboot to get connected again. It will often have lost the drivers and not regonize the device after the reboot and i then have to remove all usb hosts/controllers from the hardware, make another reboot and then plug the usb in again and install drivers again.

Any suggestions ?

Check the power save settings on the USB ports in the Device Manager. Many times they're set to go to sleep after a period of inactivity, especially on laptops.

Yes, you were right, it was set up to turn off usb to save power. I tried to change this setting (had to do it on all usb hubs though cause i cant figure out which one it uses). I hope this makes a difference. Crossing my fingers.

Thanks Mark
