Syntax Olevia 537H TV

Been in contact with UEI/OFA about a code for my Syntax Olevia 537H TV. Their response was that they didnt yet have a code for it, and they suggested 4 TV codes:

1144,1240,1331,1610

Im not quite a JP1 beginner Ive already upgraded my remote for all my devices, created devices for everything, etc (including the TV). Im hoping to try one of the other codes to see if there are any discretes that might be found. I noticed that the last 3 of those codes arent even listed in the devices-dev.xls spreadsheet, so Im wondering if they really are fairly new.

Is there any way to get those official codes into my remote (9910) without doing it over the phone with OFA? Further complicating using them is the fact that I have digital phone service so Im guessing the upgrades wont work just held up to my phone (but I havent tried yet).

EDIT: nevermind they are sending them to me in a wav file. Will post back if they work (I noticed a few people looking for codes for the newer Syntax/Olevia TVs).

Once you've loaded the WAV file into your remote, could you post a copy of the resulting IR file so we can see what those codes look like.

Did a mfg reset on the remote then added the wav file. The resulting IR file is here: http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=4071

BTW, code 1610 was able to control the TV. If anyone can take a look and decode what protocol/device/subdev that code uses, Id appreciate it!

In all the files of IR data I've downloaded from many sources I don't have any other example of those signals. So the only help toward finding any missing ones is the OBC numbers from that upgrade.

I picked OBC, not EFC because there is a pattern to OBC numbers:

Thanks I just noticed that (learned the signal to one of my other remotes then got it in IR).

That jives with all of the learned codes from the original remote. So it seems like there is still a dead end for discretes and this TV.

Any idea if a different subdevice might yield better results? I tried all of the OBCs available for the NEC1/4/185 setup.

Did you test or skip the OBCs matching the upgrade? And if you tested them did the results match? That is meaningful as a test of the testing process.

If you did it all correctly, I think you've demonstrated there are no discretes.

Yeah since I already had the learned set from before, I just added in all of the OBCs that didnt exist (original remote seemed to use 0-42 with some missing in between, I added those missing plus 43-255).

No dice. I can re-do the experiment just to be sure, but I didnt see anything I was looking for (found a couple "toggles" that didnt exist on the factory remote, but nothing like discrete inputs, etc).

Funny thing is that there was a thread about these TVs from Nov/Dec, and it was determined that you can control discrete input selection via RS232 to the TV, but they didnt have any IR discretes. Go figure.

We consider any function that is found that isn't on the OEM remote to be a discovery, so well done on the ones that you did find.

If you build an upgrade for this, please include those additional functions.

Whats the Olevia Remote that came with your TV?

Mine is RC-LTL for my 337H. Just looking for a match to recode my cable box remote.

I have a 332H, and the remote says "RC-LTL" on it. I can confirm that the TV 1610 device listed above works on it.

The only button I had to use learning for was 'Aspect'. That one came up under NEC2/4/185 OBC 37/EFC 216 in IR. This is my first time using JP1, so I'm still figuring out how everything works.

You can also just change the aspect ratio from the menus, but it's a little more cumbersome.

I think your other thread was clear enough, but if not:

The official setup code 1610 is correct for the RC-LTL, but it is not built-in on any model I know of. If you had a wav upgradeable model you could get that official upgrade over the phone. If you had a mail-in upgradeable model you could get that official upgrade by mail-in.

Lacking both of those, you need the cable, and with the cable you can use the JP1 upgrade file mentioned in your other thread.

Sorry, wasn't trying to hi-jack another thread. I just saw that this guy's TV was newer and essentially the same as mine (except his has a tuner).

No cable yet. As I didn't realize the company I ordered it from is in Canada, it may take a while. For some reason mail from there takes an exceptionally long time. I think it still comes by railroad or pony...

I'm sure I'll still need to by a different remote as the is no RDF for this Cox Cable 7820 remote. I'll see when I get the cable... Thanks!
