Discrete codes for Sony KDF-42WE655 TV

Post by guido331 »

1. Device: Sony KDF-42WE655
2. Type of device: TV
3. Year: 2005 (approximate)
4. JP1 Remote model: Radio Shack 15-2133 Kameleon (2k eeprom)
5. JP1 user? Yes
6. Still have original remote? Yes
7. Checked the file section? Yes
8. Checked Pronto file section (at R/C)? Yes
9. Partially working setup code? Yes - 0000
10. Learning remote question? yes

I'm trying to program the M1, M2, M3, and M4 buttons on my Kameleon remote to go directly to a certain video input on my TV (video 5, video 6, etc). I think this is called "discrete codes" but I'm not sure. (can someone clarify this?)

I've looked through the files section at various device upgrade files for my TV but I'm not sure which one to use. Also, this is a device upgrade that I'm trying to do, correct? I'm still not totally familiar with the terminology.

If this would be the only reason for a device upgrade, then you probably don't need one. You just need KeyMoves.

The best source for Sony IR data is:

It doesn't vary much by model.

Notice those numbers are OBC numbers, not EFC numbers, so if you are doing KeyMoves rather than an upgrade you need to translate them to EFC numbers and identify a compatible setup code.
