directv plus (hr20) greyed out buttons help

i just got my slingbox, hooked it upto the hr 20 ( i think that is what it is) it says directv plus receiver on box. i went through the setup and the remote works sort of using the codes you all mentioned, accept i have yet to find one that allows me to use all the buttons that my normal remote does -- the main one that concerns me is the "list" button (to get to my recorded shows) that button (and some others) are greyed out -- anyone have any suggestions?
