Dlink DSM-320RD and One4All 6131B00

There are two profiles for the DSM-320 (not RD model) in the download site. I tried them both following the new user guide, and they don't work. I'm not an expert at this, so I may have done something wrong.

One4All says I need official code 1554, and that I can either send in my remote to have it added, or I can purchase an 8910 remote and have them send the codes over the phone. I'm concerned about buying another remote and then finding out that their codes don't work. Also, I like the 6131. Is there any way to get the official code 1554 to upload into my remote? Any other suggestions. Thanks for your help.

I assume your 6131 has been modified for JP1 use? Let me see if I can get the DVD/1554 code for you.

I assume you have a stock, retail URC-6131, not one that has been modified for JP1 support. If that is the case, you can't upload codes to your URC-6131.

It is possible for you to modify your URC-6131 for JP1 support. Instructions are here. You can also make yourself a JP1 cable following these instructions.

Alternatively, you can buy a modified one from Rob. You can get a cable from him at the same time as well.

It can also be useful to have a learning JP1 remote just so you can use it to figure out how to add support for other devices, although you can also do that using the CaptureIR device, You have to build it yourself, but it's only $2.39 in parts (and $5.85 for USPS Prioirty Mail shipping).

If you send your remote to OFA, they will send you back a JP1-enabled remote (that's how they add the code), but it won't be the exact remote you sent them, and it may be a different model, as the 6131 has been discontinued.

There you can see that his 6131 has been modified for JP1.
His request here implies it. But it's always better to state the relevent facts than just imply them.

My remote has been modified and has the JP1 connectors, and I have a JP1 cable. The two download codes posted here for the Dlink DSM-320 do not work - although as I said I may have done something wrong. I'm not that familiar with JP1 programming, but I tried to follow the newbie instructions. It downloads fine, but it gave me an error when uploading the first time I tried. It seemed to go through the second time, however. Yet, it does not work. Maybe the codes are wrong, maybe I did something wrong. I don't know. I'm willing to try again as the remote that comes with this thing is TERRIBLE. Thanks for your help.

Post your IR file with the upgrade installed to the Diagnosis Area, and we can take a look and see if you made any mistakes.

Yet another DVD code set consisting of NEC1 protocol, device 0, and OBC numbers in the ranges 0 to 31 and 64 to 95.

Assuming OFA customer support gave you the right info, it's certainly easier to get the official upgrade. But I think I should be more consistent and insistent with suggesting the test for that whenever anyone asks about an obscure brand DVD.

You could have tried any of the similar NEC1:0 setup codes and found that some functions work but on the wrong buttons. From there it wouldn't be too hard to map out the whole upgrade. Much harder than what happened, but might have been done quicker.

Well, it doesn't work. I have posted my IR file to the downloads section. I would greatly appreciate someone checking to see if I've done something wrong. None of the files for the DSM-320 work. I hope I'm doing something wrong because the DSM remote is driving me nuts.

Ok. It's fixed. Please try again. I put both the file name and the link down in the download section, and it's one or the other. My mistake. Thanks again for your help.

By the way, when johnsfine mentioned that this was a common chip, I tried the code for my Govideo streamer. Some of the buttons do things on the player, but the commands are mapped to the wrong keys. I would be hard to figure out which key is doing what. But it's obviously a common system being used. NONE of the buttons on the downloaded file do anything, which makes me wonder if I did something wrong. But everything seemd to work as instructed. One possibility is the spreadsheet did not have my EXACT remote. The spreadsheet only has the 6131PVR. Mine is 6131B00.
