1. Device: Polaroid DRM-2001G
2. Type of device: DVD Recorder with 80GB Hard Drive
3. Year: 2006
4. UEI Remote model: URC-8910B02
5. Do you have a JP1 cable? Not yet
6. Still have original remote? Yes
7. Checked the file section? ... nada
8. Checked Pronto file section (at R/C)? ... no Polaroids even listed
9. Partially working setup code? no
10. Learning remote question? n/a
I called OneForAll and they downloaded 8 new different codes over the phone for me to try and none worked. (They DID get my receiver to work however) This device [ Polaroid DRM-2001G DVD recorder with 80GB HD ] just went on sale at Walmart a few months ago ($220). Very nice for the price, but I can't learn all the keys I need because the URC-8910 runs out of memory!
help?
thanks...

I take it that the buttons that you were able to learn do work. In this case, when your JP1 cable arrives you should be able to use them to create an upgrade.
Just out of curiosity, did you try any of the Polaroid DVD upgrades from the file section to see if they work? Such as this one...

No, I haven't tried any of the upgrades yet. I just made my JP1 cable today. I was able to download and see what my remote had learned. The codes don't look the same at all when I compare to the Polaroid upgrade you mentioned below. I'm going to play around a while and see what damage I can do. (I have saved my current config!)
One of the codes learned in IR 6.15 shows "Unknown 38.095 KHz Signal" and in the "Sent Once When Key is Pressed:" box, I get this mess:
+392 -10866 +550 -96214 +8950 -2286 +550 -96214 +8950 -2286 +550 -96214 +8950 -2286 +550 -96214 +8950 -2286 +550 -96214 +8950 -2286 +550 -96214 +8950 -2286 +550 -96214 +8950 -2286 +550 -96214 +8950 -2286 +550 -96214 +8950 -2286 +576 -130494
what is up with that? 2 of my commands are like this (menu and rev)
thanks in advance from a JP1 newbie.......

You aren't doing the learning correctly.
I think you pressed the button on the Poloroid remote to start sending the signal before the 8910 started learning. Or maybe you moved one or both of the remotes a lot as the learning started.
You need to have the 8910 start learning before you press the button it should learn. And as you press the button on the Poloroid remote to send the signal, you need to make sure both remotes are stationary. Use a table. Don't hold the remotes in your hands for learning.
For future situations, we almost never want to see the timing data from a learned signal in IR.exe quoted into a post. If there is something in the raw learned signal that an expert should see, it is much easier for us if we can open your .ir file ourselves in IR.exe.
So if you want help future with learned signals, upload the .ir file to the diagnosis area at
http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... &cat_id=35
then post the URL of that file into your question in the forum.
THIS time there was enough in the timing data you quoted for me to recognise the problem.

I just uploaded the upgrade file for this remote:
http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=4541
This is so far the best HDD/DVD recorder. Components input. Closed caption works fully, before and after recording. Easy to record and edit. Fast (10x) HDD-to-DVD back up, and meanwhile you ca watch TV. 80GB For only $188. Picture quality before and after recording is second to none. It deserves a upgrade file.
