Hi guys
I'm trying to install a Onkyo_TX-SR702 device into my URC 8781 and the device setup is not for the 740 chip in my remote so I need another protocol.I'm also trying to get a URC 8910 from the US to Canada via Bestbuy. Thanks in advance Darryl

If you are unsuccessful, I ship to Canada. Postage is $7 via GPM.

Ok I've found that another file will operate my remote but what I'd like is
the protocol for this file "Onkyo_TX-SR702-CBL1135-Atlas_Ext_save space" to run my URC 8780.Because it has the setup I'd rather have. Thanks again to all the experts on this forum.Darryl P.S.if I still want that 8910 remote Robman can I send a personal cheque?

It might be possible to mix the files, but if you want anyone to look at these files, you're gonna have to provide links. Most of us don't have the time, or the inclination, to go searching for stuff when the OP already knows where it is.

Sure. Send me a PM when you're ready and I'll send you my address.

I'm not sure what you mean by this. If it's the way functions are assigned to the various buttons, you can change them however you want in KM.

You need to remove button assignments until the upgrade is less than 50 bytes. This is a limitation of the remote itself, not KM. Remove the suggested number of button assignments and then you can create them as key moves instead

As Mark said, all you have to do is take the First upgrade (that uses the Device Combiner protocol), delete a few button assignments to get below the 50-byte limit, and re-assign them as keymoves on the keymove sheet, selecting (upgrade) as the device to which you want the keymoves assigned.

You cannot use the second upgrade (with the NEC 2Dev Combo protocol), as it's not compatible with the P740 processor, so your only choice is the Device Combiner upgrade.

Regardless, you can assign any function you want to any button, so your dilemma is a bit unclear.

Thanks for the help guys but I guess I'm doing something wrong with keymoves in KM because there not working in IR as a device keymove addon. So my next question is what do I type in IR keymove add in because the EFC for phono isn't working? It normally worked for my old Nakamichi but not for my new Onkyo. Thanks for your excellent help.Darryl

From the Beginners - Read this first sticky post:

Since we end up making the same requests for most people who ask questions, maybe this should be a sticky post. Something like:

"Having trouble with upgraded device/macros/keymoves/IR.exe"

Please post your IR and KM/RM file in the Diagnosis Area for us to look at. We can usually spot the mistake in seconds, whereas it could take days with us asking you questions trying to guess which step you might have skipped.

PLUS....
1) PLEASE post a link to the files

If you're creating them on the Key Moves sheet the resulting code appears in the Key Move Code block on the Setup sheet. After copying that code, use the [Import] button on IR's Key Moves tab.

Is it possible to copy the protocol codes from one file like this one
http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=480
to this file
http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=2493 And still make the new file work?.Is the URC 8910 from BestBuy ready to JP1 or do they need to be modified? Again this is for a URC 8790.Thanks BigD

All 8910's are JP1-ready out of the box.

FWIW, I've seen a few 8910s on eBay from some liquidation outfit in the Toronto area. I bought one from them, and it cost me about $30 CDN delivered.
The downside is they only take Paypal, and don't seem to have any now.
