re-acquainting myself with jp1

Post by dtitzer »

Okay, bought a new remote (URC-9910B01). I have a JP1 cable I made a couple of years ago that worked. Now, I'm trying to remember the steps I took to get started, and it's somewhat overwhelming. I have a working (mostly) remote (8910, I think).

1. Is it possible to download from the old and upload to the new remote?
2. I have a Magnavox MFX-450 receiver that I had to get the upgrade via phone from UEI for, but I wish I had it in a descrete file so I could work with it a bit more.
3. Is there a step-by-step guide anywhere? This will come back to me I'm sure

Thanks!

I may have the answer to my own question...In my browser bookmarks! I used this link to build the cable and get started the first time, but I forgot I had it. I suppose it could be a good guide for somebody else. Comments or additions appreciated. I still want the MFX-450 codes.

In most cases the answer is no, but in this case, as the URC-8910 and the URC-9910 are the same remote, the answer is yes, you can load the 8910 contents into the 9910 if you like.

You'll need to start a fresh thread for this in the code search forum using the template.
