That is correct. Both versions use the same signal structure (ie, protocol and device codes) and the majority of the button codes are the same between the two, but there are a few minor differences between them. Needless to say, the buttons that we asked you to test are ones that are the same between the two models.

Do you recognize your original remote here...

The guys at Akai just got back to me. They looked up your serial number and they said that you're set should respond to my upgrade #5, which uses the NEC1 protocol with a device code of 32. There aren't any setup codes in the URC-8811 that use device code 32, so there's no quickie tests you can do.

If you haven't already ordered the replacement remote, I could still load this upgrade into a remote for you.

The remote arrived. It is either remote 5 or 9 and does not work. I also bought a Kamelion from Fry's ($20) could not resist. Use it on the main system. It has several devices that will use code 32. I tried it. It did not work. I moved the TV into the guest room and I am using an older Sony! I don't know the difference between remote 4 and the other two, but it must be something. The is the possibility the the remote sensor in the TV went out the same night the remote got stepped on, however, I doubt that. The two don't seem connected. Turned off the TV with remote at 10:00 and broke the remote around 2 in the morning. As Sam's does not seem to carry the TV anymore, and it appears to be a 26 inch, and all Akai's seem to be 27" or bigger now, I thing this may be a real wierd duck! If I can find the receipt from Sams, it is going back!

I pretty much expected that it wouldn't work, which is why I posted the update. I'm pretty confident that I know what code your TV uses now as Akai looked up your serial number, and it's a different code than the one that the LCT2662 sets normally use.

You mentioned that you picked up a Kameleon, is it one of the models with a built in modem (like the URC-9960, for example)? If it is, we can create a WAV file upgrade for you to try. In fact, if you do have the URC-9960, there is a code in it that uses NEC1 device 32, called DVD/0872. I haven't checked what codes are used for the buttons in that setup code, but you could try the EFCs that I listed previously.

Remote is back on its way to Fox International. They said they listed two remotes for the 2662, so they will send the other one.

Presumably it's cheaper than the $20 I would have charged you for a pre-loaded URC-8910.
