Sony DVD MObile Remote Model # RM-X137

Post by nobbie »

Ack! Bought and had installed a sweet mobile DVD player by Sony into the minivan. Then the kids step on the remote cracking the motherboard in half!

1. Device: Sony MV-900SDS All-In-One Mobile DVD Dream System
2. Type of device: In-Car Mobile DVD Player
3. Year: 2005?
4. JP1 Remote model: URC-6131
5. JP1 user? Yes w/balky USB JP1 Cable...
6. Still have original remote? Nope!
7. Checked the file section? Yep!
8. Checked Pronto file section (at R/C)? Oh yeah.
9. Partially working setup code? Nope.
10. Learning remote question? Yes, BUT I do not have access to a working OEM remote! (See above.) AND all the local stores won't sell me one (or let me borrow one...;) )

HELP!

Going on two week driving vacation this Friday and you cannot navigate the menu without the remote! Damn you, Sony!

If you have a learning JP1 remote (obviously other than the 6131) as you say, go to the store and learn as many commands as you can IN THE STORE.

Also, you can go to the Sony codes site, which although it has no specific section for in-car TV/DVD systems, may be worth trying some of other, functionally related lists.

Good Luck!

The stores do not have these remotes available. I've looked. I've asked. I was allowed to dig through their remote drawers. Nada! Oh, my kingdom for a remote to learn from!

Most of these stores have a 30-day return policy - buy another complete unit, learn the remote, and return it later that same day! Don't even unpack anything else!

(But beware of "restocking fees"!)

I have thought of that. I wonder if they'll let me walk out with one without purchasing installation? I'd better check soon, as they had them on closeout a month or so.

Where are you located? I might be able to patch the board together and capture the output; or a local sympathetic tech might be able to do it too. It's hard to be positive without seeing the cracked board (picture?). Obviously you would need someone who is willing to do it as a challenge or as a favor rather than for profit.
Just call me Zaphod (or Steve) --- I never should have started using numbers in a screen name but I just can't stop now.

Hey Nobbie,
Do you have a URC-8910 remote? If so, give this IR file a try...

When I get a chance I will convert it into a regular upgrade file so it can be used with any remote.

Update, here's a KM file that replicates the above code...

So Rob, if I read your KM upgrade correctly, this uses a combination of Sony15:247 and Sony20:4.12?

If so, these are heretofore unseen protocl:device combinations. A whole new section for the other Rob's Sony code site!

Yes indeed. I sent him the codes via email last night, so they are on his "to do" list.

Wow! Thanks, Rob. I'll give it a shot. Of course, I gotta figure out why I'm getting the dreaded "Low Battery" error with the USB JP1 cable! Ack!
