Are you using the correct (PL vs. JU) Slingbox remote signature?

The only thing I might suggest is uploading your working RM upgrade for the 8910, and the BIN file you're generating for the Slingbox to the diagnosis area, and post links to them here and somebody might be able to spot an error.

We assume you needed an RM upgrade to build the bin file for the slingbox.

I think Capn Trips lept to the conclusion that you used a similar RM upgrade to get the 8910 to control the philips. From your response, I guess you didn't.

Give details (and maybe a .ir file) of how you made the 8910 control the Philips. Then we should be able to understand what the Philips needs.

Then give details (RM file, bin file, etc.) of what you tried to make the slingbox control the Philips.

Use the diagnosis area for any files you want to show us, and post the URL(s) back here. One .zip file with all the related .ir, .rmdu, etc. files is prefered, but you can put them seperately in the diagnosis area if you have trouble zipping.

My GUESS is you use learned signals in the 8910 both to control the Philips and to decode with IR.exe to tell you what to put in the upgrade for the Slingbox. In that case a .ir file of those learned signals is the most reliable way to tell us what the Philips needs. As always, tell us more and we'll need to guess less.

1- i used the ir learning to get the (philips ) and (topfield ) codes to my 8910 and then connected the 8910 to my pc using jp1 .

2- i used the rm and ir programs to create 2 bin files for the slingbox (1 for topfield and the other for philips ) the topfield bin worked but the philips bin didn't work ( when i press the buttons nothing happens )

So, as John wrote, if you want useful advice, upload and link to the files you have been using.

Does that mean you didn't save a .rmdu file from RM when creating that .bin file?

So far as I know, you can't reload a .bin file into RM to adjust details later, so you should always save a .rmdu file.

I don't happen to know how to read a Slingbox .bin file (I know more IR file formats than probably anyone else, but not that one). Maybe some other expert can tell something from it. I probably could have spotted your error if you had saved/posted a .rmdu file corresponding to that .bin file.

Anyone with IR.exe and DecodeIr.dll can read your .ir file to see the RC6 signals, device 46, OBCs 1, 2, 3, 12, 16 and 17. That tells us what should be in the .bin file. Hopefully someone can tell what is in the .bin file.

Edit: I guess I don't pay close enough attention to all the things Greg adds to RM. In fact you can reload (import) a .bin file into RM. The upgrade looks like it matches the learned signals. I don't see the error.

What keys did you test?

I'm a bit surprised you didn't include CH+ and CH- in the keys you chose to learn and you didn't include the digits 4 through 9 (obvious OBC numbers) when building the upgrade.

OK, so what we know:
(1) your LEARNED signals work,
(2) a BIN file created from an RM upgrade created from the learned signals apparently does NOT work.

What we DON'T know:

Does your UPGRADE work.

So why don't you create an RM upgrade for your 8910 and directly test the upgrade. Perhaps there's something in RM that is incorrectly creating the upgrade.

I don't see much chance that an RC6 upgrade for the 8910 would fail.

I think this question needs a Slingbox expert. Is RM producing Slingbox RC6 upgrades wrong?

I don't know the whole process of installing a Slingbox upgrade and testing it. I understand changing which device is selected is much more involved in a Slingbox than a real remote. Was that done correctly?

What about the Slingbox's IR emitter? You indicated that was positioned so it worked with the topfield 5000 pvr. Was it moved for the Philips? Are you sure it is in an acceptable position for the Philips?

what is "upgarde" and how can i create an RM upgrade for my 8910

note: the same steps i made for the philips remote control (which didn't work ) i made for topfield and it worked perfectly so i don't think that there is a problem with the process .

The RM file that you generate for the Phillips is an upgrade.

Take the RM file you have created for the Slingbox.
Change the remote from Slingbox to 8910.
Assign buttons on the buttons or layout tab,
Copy the device upgrade code from the output tab into the device>add window of your IR file for the 8910.
Assign that upgrade (i.e. CBL/1250) to a device on the General Tab in IR.
Delete your learned signals.

Upload the IR file to the 8910.
Test the upgrade in the 8910 to see if it operates your Phillips.

1- the ir emitter is working perfectly (i checked it many times )

2- the rm upgrade worked fine on my 8910 ( i reassigned the channel buttons on rm 1=3 , 2=1 . 3=2 to check that the rm output is fine and it worked on my 8910 as i reassigned it )

3- i made the process
ir learning (8910) -> ir (.ir) -> rm ( .bin) -> slingbox
for my topfield remote control ( nec1 protocol) and it worked perfectly on my slingox .

i think that the slingbox software is having a problem with rc-6 protocol .

please help .

What about the physical position of the ir emitter?
