apex dvd that uses code 0717 advanced codes?

Post by bohoki »

i have an apex dvd player and i was trying to figure out what codes do what
so i was doing the setup 000-255

and here is a little list if the hi-fi remote guy wants to incorporate it in the 0717 dvd advanced codes

if anybody has a better list please let me know cause i couldn't find a volume up button

man this dvd player is a hunk of crap half the time when it does its disk switch it knocks adisk out of the tray and jams
so i'm betting that none of you all would give this dvd player a minute of your time

also i see some advanced codes listed on the hi-fi remote ofa cinema7 advanced codes are over 255 what gives am i going to have to go all the way to 999 to find things i thought there was only 255 buttons per setup code

what really freaked me out was when i hit code 231 it turned off my dvd player and changed the channel on my zenith tv so i went to the dreaded fuzz

021 key up
025 key down
037 level
040 setup

185 chapter repeat
187 time display
213 pal/ntsc/auto
218 volume down

These codes are not a very good match to DVD/0717, so I suspect that there's another setup code that's a better match (though possibly not in your remote).

What is the model number of your Apex player?

I was looking at the codes that are pre-assigned to the buttons as part of DVD/0717. As you have found, there are a few buttons that do the right thing, but most of the codes are not a good match.

If you have an older OFA remote, then you're right, DVD/0717 is probably the only code that works, but if you have a newer OFA remotes there are several more DVD codes that use the same protocol and device codes as DVD/0717.

Now that you've given us the model number, I downloaded one of the JP1 upgrade files for the AD-703 and the few buttons that I spot checked match the codes that you posted. The code for VOL+ is 037 (what you call level). Actually, this code is preassigned to the VOL+ button in DVD/0717.

just wondering if there is an advanced code list for the 0717 it makes it easier to keymove

cause while i was searching through the different codes alot would just give me the "talk to the hand" and i couldn't tell what they did

also why are some of the advanced codes over 255 ? in the advanced codes section

Those advanced code lists are collected from a number of sources, but I suspect most come from UEI, and they just like to mess with your head. Any EFC that is greater than 255 is IDENTICAL to the same EFC with 256 subtracted from it (i.e. EFC 427=EFC 171). So on the advanced code lists, just subtract 256 repeatedly from any EFC greater than 255 until it's less than 256 and you'll have the "true" raw EFC.
