I have 2 OFA 15-1194s that are both in good condition and two A/V systems with respect to which upgrading the remotes with JP1 is necessary. I read that the 15-1994 was once considered a "cult classic." I am willing to invest the time utilizing the amazing resources available through this site but thought that I should inquire upfront if the 15-1994s are worth the investment?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

The 15-1994 is still considered a cult classic, I don't think you'll find too many people here willing to gives theirs away. So, as to whether these two remotes are worth a $15 investment (ie, the cost of a JP1 cable), I think the answer is a big fat YES!

If by OFA 15-1194 you mean Radio Shack 15-1994, then yes, absolutely (If you like it, it's a classic. If you don't, then it isn't). The only investment besides time you will require is to obtain/build a JP1 interface cable. (These are not OFA remotes, they're Radio Shack remotes, although they're all built by UEIC, and I presume the 1194 was just a typo)
!5-1994's sell for ridiculous amounts on eBay on the rare occasions they become available, and I'm not prepared to sell mine either.

You can actually jump in now. You can start by checking the file section to see if we already have files for all of your devices. If we do, you can download them and start re-arranging the buttons to best suit your remote and your taste (using RM or KM). You can then start programming an IR file with all of these upgrades, you can even add macros and keymoves if you like.
Then when the cable arrives, all you have to do is load the IR file and you're ready to start testing it (but take a backup of the remote's current memory first, just in case you need to go back to it).
If you have a device or two for which you can't find an upgrade file, you can use your 15-1994 to capture the signals from the OEM remote and you can then use this info to build a new upgrade.
If you haven't done so already, read this...
