which direction should I go ?
I am totally confused. first let me list my remote and hardware. I have a urc-8910 and jp1 cable. equipment I want controlled is as listed
akai hdtc PT4250A code 0812
samsung HTIB HT-P38 code rcv/amp 1500 dvd/1932
motorola HDTV cable box DTC6200 code 1376
omnifi dms1 digital streamer code 1605
philips vcr code 1081
now most devices work ok but are missing some functions I would like on the remote. the omnifi will only turn on and off with the only code urc can come up with. what I want to do is add the missing functions to buttons they should logically go to and have the power button power everything on and off with the power button in home theater mode but seperately also. I have downloaded all the software avalable but do not seem to be able to master it. I am sorry if I appear stupid but where is the shift key? and what will it do for me. would an extender be what I would need? macros?key mover?mode map?etc. do I try to learn the codes for the buttons I want to add from all the origional remotes and how would I save them and how much of the data ir.exe shows? how would I get them in the form I would need to be put in the remote. I have read everthing I can and tried tinkering but seem to go nowhere. is anyone willing to hold my hand and step me through it? maybe light a spark that would help me find what direction I should go.

A few recommendations:
(1) Use the number 1 code search FAQ template for code requests;
(2) Don't try to "do" too many new things at once - pick ONE device and figure out how to make it work precisely as you desire, then apply this learned knowledge to subsequent devices;
(3) As you have provided so MUCH information, yet also so little, it would take a long time to ask all of the questions required to "guide" you, like:
(a) Are you using built-in setup codes or upgrades?
(b) Do you have a JP1 cable?
(c) Are you using Keymap Master or Remote master?
If you want to focus on the Omnifi, fine, do so:
(1) what is the "code 1605" you're using. Is it built-in? did you find it in the file section? did OFA or UEIC provide it to you?
If you have the original remote, learning is probably the simplest way to go. Learn as many buttons as your remote can handle, and download your remote into IR. Look in the "learned signals" tab and you should have decodes of these learned signals (This presumes you have properly installed all of the required files for IR to operate and decode, like decodeIR.dll in the same directory as IR.exe). There you will have all of the info you require to fill in the Protocol, device, and subdevice fileds in either KM or RM, and for each function you will have its specific OBC.
All of this is explained in the beginners' readme, so if you can't make it work, tell us specifically at what step the process is baffling you, and someone can help.

thanks for responding. first I do have a jp1 cable and all the codes I have now are either built in or downloaded by phone from calling the all for one help line.
I am using remote master as I have no speadsheet software. the code 1605 is downloaded by the all for one help line. as well as the akai and samsung. I have all the origional remotes. I have all the requiered files.
lets figure out what I am doing wrong with the omnifi device first. I was told the code 1605 was an exact match for the device yet all it does is turn the unit on and off.
I have the code set for the aux button and the display shows misc 1605.
I used the ir learn function of the remote to use the up,down, left, right and select buttons so I could control the menue of the device and using ir.exe I can see that they are in there. when I try it out on the omnifi, nothing works?
now when I do a code set on the remote on the aux button I find I can scroll through all the different devices and thier codes an first see the misc which is 1605 I scroll looking at the others and come again to the misc and it is now showing 0459 so I try to change it to 1605 and it says success. exit out and try it. still no work.
I go back and look and scroll through the aux devices and first it shows 1605 under misc then scroll by it again and it is 0459 again? but everytime you just press the aux button it says musc 1605 ?
what am I doing wrong?

Please put some white space in your messages. It makes it easier for those of us who may want to help you to read.
Since you have a JP1 cable, please post your saved IR file in the Diagnosis Area so we can see exactly what's going on.
Remember to come back here and post a link to your file once you've uploaded it.

my omnifi learned remote
I managed to to learn all the buttons on my omnifi remote to my all for one remote.
is there a way now to convert this to a rmdu file and will this free up my learned memory as it is almost filled?
I have about 15-20 more buttons total to learn from my other remotes.
my memory now is
move/macro (178 free)
upgrade (538 free)
learned (129 free)
I have downloaded the file to the Diagnosis Area as mentioned

All the information you need for creating an RM device upgrade (.rmdu) is in your IR file. See JP1 - Just How Easy Is It?, specifically section 6 How Do You Create An Upgrade From Scratch?.

If you have read the beginner's readme's you should be able to do this. They have been proven effective throughout the years.
Looking at your learned IR signals, they are all NEC protocol, device 18, subdevice 37. In RM, ensure you have selected YOUR JP1 remote, then input this protocol/device data on the first page of your RM file, then enter each individual function name and its associated OBC on the function page. Assign the buttons as you want them on the layout page. On the output page, copy the output and paste it into your IR.exe file on the device tab, assign the newly-installed setup code to the desired button, upload to your remote and off you go.

The learned functions in your ir file match the file posted in the code search thread. There are a few you learned thats not in the other file. For instance whatever you learned on the M and L buttons. Tel us what the functions are and I will add them to the posted upgrade. I added the power, record, swap and some other function to it from your learns.

not yet
I got the remote master part down and pasted the output on the ir.exe device tab to the device tab as code 0000 for now and even tried assigning a different code but it will not do anything .
I can set the code up in the remote and it will say successful but does not do a thing on any button I programmed ?
I will post my modified IR program to the Diagnosis Area

Re: not yet
Can you clarify, please? Do you mean that the LED on your remote doesn't even light up? Does a LED on your target device normally flicker when you point the original remote at it and press a button? Do you mean that the LED on the target device does flicker but no action occurs etc.bat078 wrote:Key-presses don't do anything.
I have downloaded the latest version of remotemaster.
where does it say you have to have device 18 and sub device 37 and how do you put it in?
to answer the previous question the remote lights up and every other functions for the other devices work just not the omnifi.
no light flickers on the target device when before it did with the old code.

ok I have found where to put the device # and the sub device # in remote master and updated it and updated IR.exe to reflect it and
IT WORKS !!!!!
thanks everyone for getting me started. now my question was the same in my last post.
where did you get the numbers for the device and sub device?
