Need help with Score System Selector Pro

Post by bonnie_Raitt »

1. Device: Score System Selector Pro 2.0
2. Type of device: video selector
3. Year:
4. JP1 Remote model: URC-6131, URC-8811
5. JP1 user? yes
6. Still have original remote? yes
7. Checked the file section? yes
8. Checked Pronto file section (at R/C)? yes
9. Partially working setup code? no
10. Learning remote question? see later post

As with many JP1 users, I learned enough a year ago to program my URC-6131 to control my Tivo, Replay, DVD, and Denon receiver using an RCA VH915 video selector from Radio Shack. Since then I've added more and more devices and have outgrown the VH915 and have recently purchased a Score System Selector Pro 2.0 (Maybe known as Pelican rather than Score)

I've forgotten enough since I originally did this to figure out how to change the code. I'm using IR. I'm real rusty

I would appreciate if someone could refresh my memory on how to make the new video selector work. Thanks

Thanks. was able to find the upgrade file for the Selector Pro and load it into IR. Now if I can just remember how to do the IR thing, all will be good.

I am also contemplating buying a Denon 3806 AV receiver. When I looked in the Files section for the Denon, I didn't see it listed. I tried downloading the one called "Denon receivers", but I get a "404" error. Is this the one I need and do you know where it is, if it's the one I need?

Here's the exact message I get

The selected File does not exist anymore

404 File Not Found: The File pafiledb/uploads/24c0986e58df516ae37562bceaaa94a6.txt does not exist.

Most of the Denon files are similar in most respects - just choose a different Denon file (or several) to get the codes you're looking for. There's only about 25 of them there.

Few weeks back I wanted that file as well because it contained a whole mess of very old codes which I still need. I got the same error. The file just isn't anywhere. Considering the model needed here, Capn Trips is right in that you can likely find what you're looking for in the current file set.

I gave up, and did a code scan which was a dangerous thing since a relative of my receiver got fried. I actually skipped all 8 versions of the risky number

I think that file still exists in the yahoo section. I know I have it here in my archives if it's not at yahoo still. I can upload it here if you still need it and it's not still there.

Well, back to the problem at hand. I've loaded the Pelican Selector Pro device file and it shows as CBL/SAT:2000 under the "Devices" tab.

I now have two video selector devices loaded. The first, CB;/SAT:0915 is the one I am currently using to control my RCA 4 way video switch and shows up as DEV7 under the "General" tab.. It works fine.

I assigned the new one to DEV8 under the "General" tab with type "CBL/SAT" and Code 2000.

I tried taking one of my currently working macros (which contains a 915 switch change) and making a clone of it. This is what the working macro looks like

O_TV;O_AUD;O_DEV7;3:T_PVR;O_PVR

After cloning and making my changes I have

O_TV;O_AUD;O_DEV8;3:T_PVR;O_PVR

Looks OK to me, but it doesn't change the Selector Pro. Any ideas?

One note:

The upgrade I downloaded was labled "This is for the new version of the Pelican System Selector Pro that comes with a remote control". The one I have is a Score System Selector Pro 2.0. I believe these two devices are one and the same. Just in case I'm wrong, I thought I would mention it.

Without IR file I'm guessing. I see nothing wrong with the macro.
The Pelican KM upgrade is for 8910 Video/Acc device type.
Did you remember to change to 6131?
In IR General tab for CBL/SAT button, does it show up as CBL/SAT device TYPE? If yes, I'd change KM upgrade to CBL/SAT as well and bring it back to IR as such. I don't see Video/Acc type in IR for 6131 and they do need to match.

I can't comment on Score vs Pelican as I do not have any of these.

Thanks for the suggestion. Before importing the upgrade from KM, I selected URC-6131 PVR Extender from the drop down list. I also tried using the simple UCR-6131 choice per your suggestion with no effect. Hopefully someone can help.

By quick inspection, your IR file seems to be OK, but a recommended tactic in circumstances like this is to break down your macro into pieces, and test each piece.

Have you tested the CBL/2000 upgrade directly to see if it operates your Score switcher? That's what I'd recommend - assign (for example) your AUX key to set your remote to operate Dev_8 (you know - Macro on AUX setting V_DEV8, T_DEV8, O_DEV8), then test the number keys (I believe they are where you have assigned your various input selects) to see if they operate the switcher.

If that doesn't work, then your upgrade is wrong. If it does, slowly re-build your macro, one step at a time to see where it breaks.

I tested the upgrade per your suggestion. Nothing happens.

Does anyone out there have this model of video selector? The model I have is "Score System Selector Pro 2.0". I was pretty sure it was the same as the Pelican device, but I may be in error.

I'd love to find someone who has been down this road. Thanks

Well, since the files have been searched, and you still have no joy, your next most practical (in the sense of being relatively certain you will get results) is to LEARN the codes from the OEM remote.

I realize your 6131 is not a learning remote, but you can get a learner (8810, 8910) pretty cheaply from Rob (check out the marketplace section) and learn, decode, build your own upgrade, and then share it with us all.

If you really cannot afford the $25 or so, then you might want to mail your OEM remote to somebody who HAS a learning remote and if he/she is nice, they will do this for you.

Your choice how you wish to proceed.

Thanks for the advice. That is in fact exactly what I am trying now. I have an old 8811 lying around that I bought years ago just in case this situation came up. However, I've nver used it to "learn" anything.

I read the "sticky" on Learning" and was able to "teach" the 8811 to change to channel 2 on the video selector. However, when I tried to download the "learned" command to the PC, IR said I didn't have the correct RDF file to interpret the info. I have the ZIP file for RDFs for IR but have been unable to figure out which one to use.

Can someone help me past this Bump in the road. Thanks
