suzook wrote:that worked.thanx. just a couple more questions(sorry). first, can i change instead of the hdmi switch using ch+ and ch-, could i change it to #1, and #2 buttons?
Why does it matter to you which buttons I chose to use on the dummy upgrade? The correct functions should be being invoked on the HDMI.
suzook wrote:and last, how do i assign the other 2 unused devices?
You need to create 2 macros where each macro includes either the dev7 or dev8 buttons.
suzook wrote:meaning which buttons do i assign them to?
That's up to you. Some people assign them to un-used buttons, like the THUMBS UP/DOWN buttons, others assign them to shifted device buttons.

the only reason i ask,is because the hdmi switch has 5 inputs, when more than 2 are hooked up, using the ch+ and ch- will cycle through the rest of the inputs.could i just modify your script to use the num butttons instead of the ch buttons? or will the special proto code need to be changed.beleive me, i dont mean any disrespect, i greatly appreciate your help.thanks again
I think we might still be talking at cross-purposes. Are you being thrown off by the fact that I just happened to use the CH+ and CH- buttons in the dummy upgrade that I created? If so, let me try and explain. To program a DSM (device specific macro), you need to program a macro to a phantom button, you then need to program a keymove that refers to the DSM upgrade where the hex code used for the keymove is the hex code of the phantom button. However, you can't program regular keymoves with the URC-6131 because they changed the format, so instead I included the hex codes for the 2 phantom buttons in the DSM upgrade. I could have chosen absolutely any buttons to assign these codes to, I just happened to use the CH+ and CH- buttons. This has got absolutely nothing to do with how the macros work or what buttons are included in the macros.
Bottom line, rather than worrying about HOW I programmed it, just worry about whether it works or not. If the remote is not doing what you want it to do, please explain what's not working and maybe we can fix it.
