Magnavox MWD200G DVD - $30 Walmart player

Post by sberube »

Quick suggestion to the forum mods, searching for 'mandatory template' turns up nothing. Perhaps the sticky should be updated.

Here is a continuation of my other thread using the template.

1. Device: Magnavox MWD200G
2. Type of device: DVD Player
3. Year: 2005/2006
4. JP1 Remote model: RCU810 and URC8910
5. JP1 user? Yes, Self made cable.
6. Still have original remote? Yes
7. Checked the file section? Yes
8. Checked Pronto file section (at R/C)? Yes (Motorola had 0 DVD's, philips had some and checked that but no match)
9. Partially working setup code? No
10. Learning remote question? Learning all the keys will take up the remaining memory in the remote and I can't fit all (not even the primary keys) The upgrade codes take up much less memory so I would like to go that route and will help in anyway I can.

I learned some of the signals here are some examples if any look familiar for existing codes.

On/Off:
Protocol: NEC1
Device: 135
Sub-Device: 34
OBC: 65
Hex CMD: 7D
EFC: 169

Play
Protocol: NEC1
Device: 135
Sub-Device: 34
OBC: 94
Hex CMD: 85
EFC: 230

Since there is no new protocol. I will gladly create an upgrade code using keymap unless you think there is already one for this.

We were kind of hoping that the sticky thread labelled "PLEASE RESD FIRST" would do the trick.

You have mis-understood the learning question. We're not asking you to permanently use learning, we're asking you to use learning to capture the signals and then use the captured data to build an upgrade yourself.

Have you read this...

10. Learning remote question? (n/a or explanation)
If your JP1 remote is a learning remote and you do have the original remote, PLEASE EXPLAIN what is preventing you from using learning to capture the signals and then you building an upgrade yourself.

According to devices.xls, NEC1:135.34 is used by
TV/0792
TV/1944
TV/1963
DVD/0675
DVD/0821
DVD/1268

None of these are present in the RCU-810. So looks like creating your own upgrade is the way to go.

I just built an upgrade file I will submit to the file section for this dvd player. My remote didn't have any of the codes listed but this new one did the trick.

Using the two buttons that you posted as a guide, it appears that DVD/0675 is the correct code for this player, and that code is in your URC-8910 remote.

Here's a KM version of DVD/0675:

My urc8910 hasn't come in yet so i'm still using the RCU810. I ended up creating a code for the RCU810 that includes all the buttons.
But thank you for the info WRT to the URC8910.
