Sharp QA-2500 Projection Panel

Post by cyberdemon »

1. Device: Sharp QA-2500
2. Type of device: Projection Panel
3. Year: 1997?
4. JP1 Remote model: OFA 8910
5. JP1 user? Barely
6. Still have original remote? Nope
7. Checked the file section? Yep
8. Checked Pronto file section (at R/C)? Yep
9. Partially working setup code? not realy
10. Learning remote question? kind of

I Have searched this site and many others for the remote codes for this panel. I was able to find the "Pronto" Hex codes for this device.

I also was able to decode this with IRtool and now have a working remote.

I am somewhat of a novice in the JP1 community. I know enough to get my equipment to work but that is about it. could someone take the following data and compile it to the necessary file so that others searching for the codes will have it?

Just a note, some of the decoded data has many codes listed. I am not sure how to get these to work on the remote an as the functions they represent are not required for me I have not tested.

On my remote I have setup two diffrent codes one with the denon protocol and one with the sharp. I do not know how or if these two protocols can be combined on one code. If one of you realy smart people can do it please do.

Thanks

Interesting. Sharp and Denon protocols are very similar, but I don't recall any Sharp devices using Denon protocol
cyberdemon wrote: I also was able to decode this with IRtool and now have a working remote.
I assume you mean just using the Denon decodes and ignoring the others.
cyberdemon wrote:could someone take the following data and compile it to the necessary file so that others searching for the codes will have it?
No because it has too many errors. I assume those errors were made by whoever learned the Pronto Hex from the original remote, so there wasn't much you could do about it.

The Sharp and other non-Denon decodes you quoted look pretty unreasonable. I'm pretty sure they're all learning errors. But I'd have a better estimate if you posted the URL where you got the signals.

Denon has pdf files giving good documentation of their IR signals. Even though you have a Sharp branded device, it might well have its codeset documented by Denon.

It can be done, and if it looks like the Sharp decodes are real, we'll provide more details.

I found the URL myself
http://ir.premisesystems.com/search.asp ... P&l=QA2500

I checked "right" so far, the first bad looking one you quoted. It is definitely garbage on that site.

I assume your device does not have a VCR or other "transport" type device built in.

The Fast forward and similar commands (all the Sharp commands, device 3 on that web page) are good learns, but I assume they are good learns of a different device. The original remote for your device was probably a semi-universal remote whose transport keys were preset for some Sharp VCR.

I haven't figured out what the device 23 signals are (> and ^). Even seeing the original Pronto Hex, I can't tell whether they are garbage from bad learns (like the device 31 signal) or something that could be used.

wow you guys are quick

Thanks for the info.

as for the diffrent codes on the same remote I think that they are real as the functions under sharp 3 are all on a seperate portion of the remote

I have a pic of the original remote. [I emailed a guy that has one for sale. he wants over $100 for the remote and wont let me borrow it. ;)]

I would upload the pic if I seen an upload function but I dont. if you want to see it email me at cyberdemon@fastmail.fm

Not sure what you mean by "real" nor whether you understood what I meant by "different device" or "semi-universal".

For example, my Toshiba TV original remote has buttons for the six basic transport functions, even though the TV has no such functions. That remote can be programmed for many popular VCRs, so its remote can send those six basic functions to the VCR while most buttons of the remote still control the TV. So those VCR signals are really from the TV's remote, but they are not really signals for the TV.

Just so you know. The 9c denon combo protocol is a mix of both denon and sharp. I have the 1195 from ofa here somewhere. The 1193 listed in devices.xls is the same protocol but uses only sharp. I will upload the 1195 so you can look at it in a minute when I find it.

I put it here

yea I think you are right. I do remember reading in the manual I downloaded that the QA-2500 can learn commands for presentation equipment. these buttons are not shown on the pic I have. they are displayed in the manual under a sliding cover.

The "legitimate" commands I meant were the right, left, center commands however looking further they have different device codes so now I am unsure. I have programed them into my remote and they don't seem to do anything. I don't really know what they are for so they could be for the pointer or something. which I have also not got to work.

If you click on the "file section" link at the top of this page, you will see the upload button.

I thought that I would post the codes that I have got to work

Denon codes that work

Contrast
select
reset
Pointer
draw
Audio
Freeze
Hi bar
Reveal
Timer
Menu
Input
Clear
-
+

Sharp codes that work these do something but not what they should

ex... when pressing any of these keys the pointer goes diagnoaly to the right and down

Right
Left
Center

codes I have not attempted
