new laptop

Post by doninwny »

I've used my interface and this exact remote (8810b00) successfully with a previous laptop, now I have an IBM thinkpad t23, can't get the three to play nice. Are there parallel port settings that need to be changed, i.e. bidirectional, EPP, enable legacy plug and play, etc., that could be the problem? I've done all the battery tricks, fresh ones, reverse one, remove one, tried all the ports, same result. Any ideas?

Yes, but I can't remember which and can't test at present although I think ECP works most times. Don't suppose you still have the old laptop and can look in its BIOS to check out the settings? Whilst waiting for a better reply, why not try changing the parallel port setings in BIOS and see? Failing all that, you could get a USB cable and sell the parallel one.
