Phantom Button - What is it, How do I use it?

Post by TAZ »

Maybe this is a Noobie question, but I want to know. I search through the forum, on the site, even Googled every 'Phantom Button' Atlas DVR Remote combo I could think of. I found a crappy band, and people using Phantom Buttons, but no description of 'How To' use it.

I've got an Atlas 5 DVR/PVR remote. I see Phantom1 Phantom2 DescreteON DescreteOFF as buttons in KM.

I'm assuming that there buttons that I can do with a special move like double tapping a button. But what button are they mapped to and how do I access them.

While I'm on the subject, how do I perform a Shift+Button action on this remote?

Phantom buttons are not real buttons, so as the user you cannot "push" them. In all other aspects they are the same as a button. One place they are really useful is to put a string of macro commands on a phantom button when you need to do that same sequence from other macros. This way you don't have to use up a button for something that is essentially a macro subroutine.

I don't know about your specific remote, but on most you press and release the setup button to "shift" the next button you press.

I used the forum's search function on "what AND phantom" and got this link:

Thanks for the info.

I've incorporated the 'phantom1/2' and 'descreteON/OFF' buttons which are also apparently phantom buttons into Macro's and yes the Setup button acts as a shift for the Atlas DVR 5 remote. So now instead of 3 macro's I have 6 ;)
