For all things Sony, you should visit this site:
http://www.hifi-remote.com/sony/

And for DVDs specifically, the page is:
http://www.hifi-remote.com/sony/Sony_dvd.htm

There's no such functions with the exact names of "fast play" or "slow play", but there are several functions that are possibly what you're looking for, such as (thse are OBCs) ...

Already tried those...

Thanks, Rob, but I've already tried all those codes and searched the Sony pages of this site.

OK, I did a bit of Googlin' and I found a listing for the DVPNS50PS at Abt Electronics and they have a copy of the user manual there too. The remote does indeed have FAST PLAY and SLOW PLAY buttons, and I'm guessing that these are new functions that were added for this DVD player.

Given that those functions are not covered by the list at the Sony section of this site, they probably haven't been captured and decoded yet. If you had a regular JP1 learning remote you could capture them for us, but the URC-8780 would need a hardware mod for you to be able to read the learned signals. Therefore, the best I can suggest is that you try all of the gaps in the OBC range of the known codes to see if you can find the missing functions.

Here's a list of all the gap OBC codes...

If I had to guess, I would think the codes would be device 26.98, commands 111 and 112 (the command codes for similar VCR functions), but really the codes could be anywhere in 26.98. Most new codes are 26.98 codes. I doubt they're in 26.73 but it's possible.

If this doesn't get answered soon I'll see if I can learn these myself.

I just bought this player and can learn those codes over the weekend.
Let me know if this is still desired.

Finished learning all the signals form this remote (RMT-D175A).
It appears that the 2 in question are:
Fast Play: Sony20, device 26, sub-device 98, EFC 172
Slow Play: Sony20, device 26, sub-device 98, EFC 176

I uploaded a file ("learned signals") with the complete listing (among some of my other component signals) in the Diagnosis Area for your review.

http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=2703

My question now: how do I combine those 26.98 signals with the rest (26.73)?
Thanks.

Mike.

You have to use the Sony Combo (12/15/20) protocol in KM or RM to combine multiple Sony 20 devices/subdevices (maximum of 4). The Protocol Help worksheet explains it pretty well in KM. Remember that you have to use OBCs rather than EFCs for entering function codes.

Thanks for learning those. Just FYI, it's almost always a better idea to work with OBCs rather than EFCs, and with Sony signals it's certainly the case. As you noticed, with the Sony12 signals you are given a choice of three EFCs, but if you look closer, you're only given one OBC.

Done with the combo protocol.
Works like a charm.
Thanks for the tip.

Stupid me, I had a device upgrade I had made with my 8810w for this very DVD player sitting on my HD for months. I got all the commands in it including fast play and slow play and I JUST today posted said upgrade file and here it is:
