Atlas DVR/PVR 5-device with TWC SA8300HD - JP1.2

Post by Kiwi »

I have an Atlas DVR/PVR 5-device with the "day" rocker button on the left hand side of the round portion, see the top left unit here.

The 6 pin connector is labelled "JP1.2" so from all that I have read I can do none of the JP1 programming yet. I was in the middle of building my simple JP1 cable when I discovered this so I am disappointed to say the least. I envisioned being able to have the appropriate devices power on and inputs selected when I wanted to watch a DVD and the same scenario for watching a recording from the DVR. It seems that the similar remote with the rocker button labelled "settings" is a JP1 so I might go and swap mine as the day function is not that significant.

I have two questions:
1. what is the latest status on being able to program JP1.2 remotes? I read this thread and it seemed to sputter and die after significant inital enthusiasm.
2. How do I program discrete codes for this remote control? I followed some instructions of how to program discrete codes for power on and power off but they did not work.

Thanks in advance,
Robert

jp1.2

I have the same problem. I have found older altas remotes have the JP1 interface and the simple interface cable will work.

If there's any update regarding the JP1.2 remotes, we will announce it load and clear.

You program this remote the same way you would any other remote, with the exception that it probably uses 5 digit advanced codes instead of 3 digit codes. To use 3 digit EFCs with this remote, prefix two zeroes in front of the code.

I just received this remote with my cable box from Rogers Cable. But mine says "JP1" only (no .1 or .2). I was very happy to find this out so I ordered up a simple JP1 cable. My happiness was wasted though as it simply does not work with IR.exe. I get a "Did not receive a response from the remote after sending device address. (ErrNo=7, Param=160)". I've tried 2 JP1 cables (I made the second one) and multiple PCs. Is it possible that this really is a JP1.1 or JP1.2 remote that's mislabelled? I'd like to disassemble the remote but I don't know how. There are no screws.

Yes, it's totally possible that it's just mislabelled. The labelling isn't designed for end-user use, so UEI is under no obligation to make sure that they use the right labels on each remote.

Look at this...

Based on the information from the original poster in this thread, it would seem that the older JP1 version has a "Settings" button on the left side by the arrow keys. His newer JP1.2 version has a "Day+/Day-" rocker button in this place. Before you tear it apart, which button is on yours?

Rob is correct that UEI has not been consistent in their labelling of the JP1.2 connectors. I've seen them labelled JP1, JP1.1 and JP1.2. Glad I don't work for UEI customer service!

Thanks guys. It is indeed the "Day" remote. Take a look at these. I am brand new to this JP1 business, is there obvious reasons why this isn't working? I see lots of empty solder pads (mostly for resistors) and no U2.

Yes, both the lack of a U2 (EEPROM) chip and the presence of the Freescale logo on U1 would tend to indicate this is a JP1.2 remote.
