Hi Ive noticed a lot of people are having the same battery drain problem as me and that an extender has been created to help. Ive tried to install said extender but get an error message saying "upgrade pointer at address $00000 point to $ffff which is out of range"
Can anyone tell me what ive done wrong. Ive also tried just loading the standard extender which out adding my settings and fiddled with the backlight settings but nothing seems to have changed regarding the motion sensor. If anyone can help me id be grateful.
Thanks JOhn

I am not sure what triggered that error but it is usually a sign of not having the right RDF file. Do two things for me.
1) describe the process you used to install the extender.
2) upload an IR file from your remote so I can get a look at it.
A couple of questions:
Did you use IR to install it?
Do you have IR pointing to the current RDF's
Do you have Extinstall in the correct directory for IR to find?

thanks for the quick reply
Hi
SO far ive installed ir.exe, the rdf files in the tools/main section (rdf required for ir.exe....) I opened ir and set the rdf and extinstall paths. I then uploaded my remote setting and saved as a text file (in the same directory as ext and ir) and edited the batch file so the install.bat was pointed to my settings file. Then ran the batch file. Ive tried to reinstall everything to the same result. John

using ir?
Hi
I tried to use the merge option in ir and selected the relevent hex file. This added the extra options in the second window. When i try to reupload tho i get a message telling me the signature is from a different remote. Which setting do i alter to stop the backlight working on motion? because i cant seem to disable it.

OK. Try the extender install function within IR instead of the batch file.
Download the current configuration from the remote int IR.
Run the "Merge using Extinstall" on the IR file menu
It will first ask for the extender .hex file so have that available
Then it will ask you for a file name to save it as.
Then upload to the remote what it created in IR. If that loads OK then tweak it whatever way you want and upload it to the remote.

You must have posted around the same time as i discovered i could try it that way. Ive tried merging my file ( i get the different signature error - do i need to load a different rdf file - i have only the one in the tools/main section) it works and gives me the backlight options but when i alter then it doesnt seem to have any effect.
Ive also tried loading the blank file with the extender settings to see if my file was messing it up but i still cant seem to have any effect on the backlight.

I assume you replied OK to the different signature message. That is to be expected since the extender is a different name than the original so we know the difference.
I also assume you activated the extender as outlined in the readme file. If you didn't it will just act like the original remote.
If you think the original configuration in the remote is messed up then I would do a reset and upload the original file you downloaded (assuming you saved the original working image). If not reset the remote and manually put in the codes for your devices etc.. In other words get it back to where you were before jp1. Or you can do a new in IR and use the rfd for the unextended 9960 and set it up and use that as the base for installing the extender.
Any changes you make to the backlight on the main IR menu should take effect when you upload the file to the remote and activate the extender

Now you can have fun tinkering until you get it doing what you want.wallace47931 wrote:I had not pressed the tv then format key as outlined in the instructions. apologies and thanks for taking the time to help. There is a thread on here about making the menu etc. buttons simulate the original remote if you liked the way they originally worked so search for that.
