6012B stopped working
Even with new batteries, all it does is blink the red light when you press a key. No codes make it work. Should I just toss it or is it worth fixing?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Try some even newer batteries, or test the batteries that you have (ie, use a battery tester, don't just assume they're good because they're new).
The flashing light when you press any button sure sound slike the low-battery indicator.

OK. I borrowed some batteries from the supply room and did the reset.
I'll try it when I get home. Thanks.
PS - Should this remote have correct code for the Apex 600A DVD player or should I use the steps here? http://www.hifi-remote.com/ofa/apex_help.shtml.

Yes it does, it's DVD/0672, but even if it didn't, there's no reason why a JP1 user would want to use the steps outlined on that page.

Working again! Thanks.
(sorry maybe this should be in the newbie section.

Unfortunately, this 6012b has no JP1 connector or learning keys. Is there another way to program? The Robman wrote:Yes it does, it's DVD/0672, but even if it didn't, there's no reason why a JP1 user would want to use the steps outlined on that page.

The URC-6012 is JP1 compatible, but you do need to add a couple of parts to make it work.BDub wrote:Unfortunately, this 6012b has no JP1 connector or learning keys. Is there another way to program?

As you posted this in one of the JP1 forums, rather than the non-JP1 forum, we naturally assumed you were a JP1 user. Stands to reason if you think about it.

6012B stopped working again
Tried the 981 reset again and this time it wont work.
I still get the red light to blink on key presses and code entries (which is why I still have hope), but no effect on my components.
Anymore ideas before this thing gets trashed?
Thanks.

Did a reset when the remote stopped working. Then entered the codes again to no avail.MaskedMan wrote:If you did a reset the remote wouldn't be programmed for components anymore.![]()
Cool. Will try. Thanks.MaskedMan wrote:Do you have a camcorder or digital camera? Use it to look to see if the remote is actually firing, you can see the infra-red blasts through the eye piece.

Are you 100% sure that the "new" batteries are "fresh" batteries? I was chatting to someone one time who used to work in OFA customer support and he said that the first three things they would always ask customers to check were....BDub wrote:Thanks but already tried that.
