Moxi DVR

Post by Twhidd »

Is anyone working on an upgrade code for the Moxi Motorola DVR. I've learned a few commands, but have some strange protocol. I'm not new to JP1. I have created some upgrade codes in the past.

If you need some help with learned signals than the best procedure is to:

a) Clear out all the learned signals in IR.
b) Upload to your remote
c) Learn as many signals as you can
d) Download from your remote
e) Save the contents of your remote to a file
f) Upload the file to the File Section

That way someone can take a look at it and help you create the upgrade/decode the protocol (depending on if it's a protocol we've seen before).

Need a few more buttons

Post by guentjo »

I'm giving my brother a URC-9910 for christmas (he wants to put all his equipment in a closet). He has Adelphia cable with a motorola Moxi HD PVR box (BMC9012), i guess it was made in 2004-2005. I want to set the remote up for him b/c he is a electronics clutz, and if I don't it will sit in the box until I go visit him and set it up then. I have a JP1 cable. I have created my own upgrades in the past so I'm not a JP1 moron, but by no means an expert.

I borrowed a neighbors Moxi remote and learned all the buttons. I have downloaded the Moxie_KM file. However, that file appears to be missing the: Back, Next & Skip buttons (I assume Exit = Clear).

As has been posted already, the coding for the learned buttons doesn't match up with the Moxi_KM coding.

I'm willing to make a whole new upgrade, but each button has several lines of Protocols, OBC & Misc information that I can't decifer.

Has anyone been able to map the missing buttons?

I've uploaded the IR file to the Diagnosis section:

non-intuitive buttons are defined in the note field.

I have replaced the KM file with a cleaner version. Hopefully this version includes all of the Moxi buttons.

Thanks Rob.

Is the reason the learned buttons have different coding a protocol thing? Did you "re-invent" the coding? Just to satisfy my curiosity.

I don't follow the question. If you're really asking "how come the original KM file had 2 bytes of hex code for each button and the new one has decimal codes?" it's just a matter of how I used the manual settings feature in KM. I didn't change the protocol.

However, if you find you're running low on upgrade memory, I could easily change the protocol so that it just uses 1-byte commands.
