A device will often support additional functions over and above those found on the original remote. The primary functions that people need, as mentioned before, as the discrete codes (if they exist) but who knows what other functions might be out there waiting to be found.

That leads to my only other question. I only see F.Fwd and F.Rew which on most I have seen is chapter or title next and back. Does the remote only have those buttons or is that fwd and rew? And something else is next and back chapter or title?
F.REW - Briefly press the button during playback: Previous chapter or previous title
Hold down the button: Search backwards
Hold down the button during the still picture: slow motion backwards
So F.REW and F.FWD do chapters and fast forward/rewind

Ok. I want them. But i prolly have to wait til i get to open this thing test out the codes eh? What is the best way to do it? Do i create a new upgrade with the OBCs i want to try assigned to certain buttons?
Be aware that some codes can enter into a setup or diagnostic mode so back off if this happens rather than reset the firmware. In the DVDR70, for instance, if you send EFC 085 (OBC 235) and then press 121 212 005 255 and then press play it makes the darned thing region-free and turns off the macrovision protection and you wouldn't want that, would you ?

geez i did that on my old apex dvd player, didn't think it was possible with newer hardware.

Not this time. OBCs were gleaned from other Philips upgrades found in File section. DVDR70 unlock code found somewhere on Internet - it's basically a firmware downgrade since most DVD devices start off region-free and are then "up"graded to region-specific depending upon which market they're aimed at.
I found some Discrete Codes last night.
My favorite one is the Previous/Last Channel function, which is missing on the original remote.
Heres a short list:
Previous Channel: OBC 10
Dim LCD Display: OBC 19
Slow FWD 1/8x: OBC 34
Slow REW 1/8x: OBC 35
F.FWD 4x: OBC 40
F.REW 4x: OBC 41
Goto to Beginning of Time Shift Buffer: OBC 43
OBC 42 does something, but I'm not sure yet. When i send it, it pops up as an unavailable function. So it may have a purpose in Disc mode while playing a DVD or something.
Thats it so far. When i test all of the OBCs I'll just add the useful ones to the upgrade and re upload it.

Congrats on finding the additional codes. However, regarding the upgrade file, please don't JUST add the useful ones, instead please add all of them and just assign the ones that you feel are useful to actual buttons. That way the next user can decide for themselves which functions he finds useful.

yeah what i meant by "useful ones" was all obcs that did something. Since OBCs that didn't do anything wouldnt be useful.
