I created an installer for all JP1 tools, following Rob's suggested structure
It doesn't update the registry and RemoteMaster.properties (not sure how to do that yet)

Tested it a few times, but maybe somebody can confirm that it does what it should: Installer - JP1 Tools

OldRemoteNames.ini belongs in the RDF directory.

RemoteMaster.properties in just a plain text file that RM uses to remember the user's settings.
There are two settings that should be added by the installer (for new installs only, updates shouldn't change the user's RemoteMaster.properties file). The 2 entries that should be added are RDFPath and UpgradePath (because you've changed the name of the Upgrades folder to "RM Upgrades")

The RemoteMaster.properties file should look something like this:

Code: Select all

RDFPath=C\:\\Program Files\\JP1 Remote\\RDFs
UpgradePath=C\:\\Program Files\\JP1 Remote\\RM\\RM Upgrades
Note the forward slash before the colon, and the double forward slashes.
Obviously, these entries would need to reflect the actual install directory if the user changes it from the default.

The installer should either check to see if Java is already installed or ask the user before launching the Java installer.

appears fine here as I downloaded install creator pro as well and made a similar one with the full screen and bmp of the Oneforall Remote as well
however Did you unzip all the files and delete them first before running your install program as it doesn't automatically unzip zip files which can be a pasin for new users as well
Just checked your itt file out not actually installed it

Thanks Greg, I updated the setup:

- OldRemoteNames.ini is now in RDFs folder
- RemoteMaster.properties points to the default folder and preserves settings for subsequent updates
- the installer is quite basic and it doesn't let me check the current JRE

I couldn't figure a way to create new registry entries for IR from the installer
(new users will have to point it to RDF, ExtInstall, and IRtoWAV paths)

The latest installer updates the registry for IR.

Yes Michelle, I unzipped all tools and created a folder containing the final structure

The final file is in the same location (Installer - JP1 Tools)

You should just put the driver and inf file in any directory. When you plug in the USB adapter windows should report it found a new USB device. When it goes through the setup routine just make sure you select the option that you have the install files and then point the installer to where you copied them.

Then start up IR and in the interface pulldown select USB.
