Baffled by TIVO Device Codes and RS14-2104

Post by DavidEC2955 »

I am baffaled...
I have a RS14-2104 which will work with the DTV/TIVO-R10 codes.. but it will not allow me to set the 'DEVICE' code!!

I have other remotes that work just fine with the codes just fine...
RCA810, HTPro, RS-2107....

The code will work.. just can not set the device number so the code will work both DirecTV/TIVO devices.... any ideas to what to do so that I can set the device code to "1" and not "0/ALL"

Moving topic to 'SOFTWARE' as it seem that there might be an error in 'RM' and the TIVO {Advance} protocol code..

OK after looking things over it seems that maybe the 'Advance TIVO' code being used in the current version of 'RM' [RemoteMaster Device Upgrade Editor, v1.38] does not work correctly with the RS15-2104..

The upgrade codes are different between the older one that does work in the remote and the current one that "RM" tries to load?!?!?

New protocol =
43 8d 31 8b 12 cf 44 08 08 01 1a 01 06 01 1a 03
31 d7 42 11 a7 08 b7 08 05 e4 06 05 60 06 46 06
f0 54 c0 06 f6 01 46 46 29 0d 8d 01 49

Older protocol =
43 8D 31 8B 12 CF 44 08 08 01 1A 01 06 01 1A 03
31 D7 42 11 A7 08 B7 08 05 76 73 04 6B 0B 56 73
E3 56 00 DF B0 0D E6 06 BF
E4 06 05 60 06 46 06
F0 54 C0 06 F6 01 46 46 29 0D 8D 01 49

IR file from working 15-2104 can be found at:

[PS: Found where to edit the device code from all to "1" and edited the older upgrade in note pad.. could not edit in 'RM'???? And copy and paste using 'RM'+'IR']

I don't know what is causing your problem, but you should be using the TiVo (Official) protocol. If you do, you won't need a protocol upgrade at all.

BTW, KM v8.34 generates the same protocol upgrade as RM does.

I have done 'factory reset' on the remote and tired the 'current' "official", "2bit", and "advance" TIVO codes and none would work on this remote.

Only the older TIVO upgrade which I already had installed in the remote that I can only assume was an 'Advance Hacked' version of the TIVO remote code?!?!?

How about posting an IR file with a TiVo upgrade installed that doesn't work? I'd suggest one that uses the TiVo (Official) protocol, as that is builti-into the remote, and you won't have to install a protocol upgrade. It might also help if you provide the .rmdu file you used as well.
