From what I can tell, it appears that you have properly created the Custom Mode name macro, and properly call it in your CBL button macro.

My only possible answer is perhaps you're not activating the extender?

After uploading the extended IR file, you must press TV:Power to activate the extender (All LCDs activate for a short while, followed by "SUCCESS" displayed).

Only then will the special protocol functions work.

If you ARE activating the extender, then someone smarter than I needs to take a look.

Something strange about this file. May or may not be relevant. I have no clue other than these observations:
1. Extender protocol $0180 is last in the list, normally it's first.
2. Extender device TV/1800 isn't in the list at all.
3. I just loaded this file into my 8910 and it won't activate so I think it's not running the extension at all.
Keymoves look ok to me, but having never used the HT button for the system, I can't comment on that part, but Capn can since he's used it.

Additional observations which might be a problem later:
4. DSM protocol 1FC has two versions in this file, one is for the unextended 8910, one is for extended.
5. Two DSM devices are in the file: Misc/1103 and TV/1103 corresponding to the 1FC protocol.

I'd start from scratch with a clean extender file and just add the upgrade devices from KM or RM or copied and pasted from one IR session to another.

Good luck :D

Duhh... how did I miss that?! :o Of course that is your problem. You're definitely not running the extender. Read the extender documentation more closely to see what files you can and cannot delete from the extender. TV/1800 is most definitely NOT among them!

If you are going to post a file for us to look at, the Summary page is useless.

We need to see your actual saved .IR file.

From what we've seen so far, you didn't install the extender correctly.
Have you gone back and looked for directions on installing the extender, and did you double check what you did?

Yes i uploaded the extender and TV then POWER it showed success.

I replaced the summary file with the IR file at the same location.

Thanks for your help!

Edit 2: See the highlighted sections at the bottom of this:Edit: I was obviously typing my answer as the previous one was coming in. As Emily Litella would say "Never Mind"

:? :? :? An rtf file doesn't tell one very much. Although it's a creative way of posting some of your IR file's data, it's not particularly useful to analyze what may be wrong.

Nor do you provide any description of what you have done since the last time and what your new/current symptoms are. Does the extender seem to activate properly? (Did it before?)

From what little I can discern, it APPEARS to reflect correct upgrades for the extender and the correct formatting of the custom mode name macro, but it's hard to be sure without the actual IR file.

I would suggest (1) that you stick to uploading/posting links to IR files (or KM/RM files if the question is about a specific upgrade - in this case not) and not to invent new ways of providing the data; (2) explain what you have tried/done since the last time you uploaded a file and what symptoms you have that require fixing.; (3) using the copious "notes" capability of IR.EXE that allow you do annotate what each device and protocol upgrade is, what each keymove, macro and special keymove is, and a general description of your IR file (on the general tab). All of these things make it easier for those here to try to help you.

rev. wrote:Just wanted to say thanks for the help. The extender seemed to install just fine (by wav file) without any special prep work. The only optional protocol I installed was the custom mode names one (which works great), but I found that after the install button presses were frustratingly unresponsive and slow for some reason and I ended up uninstalling it. :?
This post almost fell through the cracks!

REV, this is important: it should not be slower.
Post your file if you want some of the 88xx guys here to take a look (this thread I think is about 2 remotes, 88?? is yours, right?).
It could be something simple like a set_keys macro running several times too many.

If you decide to post the file, please indicate what's slow - a particular key from upgrade, keymove, macro, special protocol, whatever.
Hey, once you're under extension, there's no going back, not allowed :) , except I had to at least 4 times  before it sank in a bit.

Don't give up. That is not how it should be working. Post your file so we can get a look at it.

NILS IS BACK !!! :D !!! :D

When I looked yesterday at the 10/26 4:30+- pm file, "HDTV" displayed when I pushed CBL on 8910. Then lowspeed reported it worked. Indicentally, there was no CBL upgrade, setup was 0000.
