emerson ht-200 amp upgrade

Post by rrodscott »

Device: emerson ht-200
Type of device: dolby surround amp.
JP1 Remote model: Millinium 4.
JP1 user? yes .
Still have original remote? (yes/no): no
Checked the file section? yes, nothing there
Checked the Pronto file section yes nothing there.
Partially working setup code? no
Learning remote question? n/a

I've loaded several Emerson upgrades used for TV's but none of them worked for my amp. I can't find any Emerson amps listed anywhere but it's a good amp and any help that anyone could give me would be much appreciated.

Well, since you have neither the original remote, nor a learner, nor does there appear to be any source from which to draw in the usual places, you seem to be in a bit of trouble. I see several options:

SEQUENCE A: Do a Google search for Emerson ht200 and
(1) find somebody who has one (the 6th post in the thread)and see if he will let you borrow the remote to learn the signals, or

(2) find a site that sells replacements OEM remotes, and get it, learn the signals you need, and return it for a refund.

Of course, you still need a learning remote, so you will also have to:

(3) buy a learning JP1 remote from RS or BestBuy, use it to learn and decode the signals, and then return THAT!

OR...

SEQUENCE B:
This may be a little easier, but still is work: Do step 3 above to get a JP1-ready learner, and go to a Best Buy or Circuit City or Sears or ANYWHERE that has ANY Emerson amplifiers, obviously the closer you get to your model number the better) and learn the signals from its remote in the store.

OR...

SEQUENCE C:
Ask someone in this forum to be EXTREMELY NICE and go to a B&M shop with HIS/HER JP1 learner and learn a bunch of Emerson HT Amp signals and either provide them to you or build the upgrade for you.
Beginners - Read this thread first

To gather up all the receiver functions you need two remotes or two trips. One learning session is unlikely to fit. The world needs a learning extender :!: :!: No keymoves, no macros, just learning area.

But it appears that Rob solved the immediate problem.

If the upgrade I posted is correct, this thing only has about 7 buttons. As for the learning extender, I asked for one of those a long time back but it's never reached the top of anyone's priority list.

Saw a picture of one on eBay (untested and may well have been faulty but it went for $1 including the remote). Looks like the amp is c1996 vintage and the remote does only appear to have about 7 buttons.

Learning extender sounds good - I tried messing about with settings for the 7562 RDF but don't know enough about where various memory pointers go. Managed to get IR to say I had a learning bucket but it wouldn't actually function. If it isn't possible to allocate all or most memory to learned functions, is there a way of writing an extender that will MOVE data from learning memory into another area?

Do you have a link to the ebay auction or an item number?

There's one on there now (item 5813657454) where the guy says "No remote included but most All-In-One's will work". If this audio/0020 code that UEI gave me is the right code, according to my files, it's never been installed in any remote, and it's ancient, though there are many other setup codes that use the same protocol and device code (F12, 5) so it shouldn't be too hard to use a few advanced codes to fix them up.

Note that I said "saw" and "it went for" so the item in question has been sold and my post was simply to answer the questions of what age and how many buttons.

The picture in the link below shows the remote although not clearly enough to identify individual buttons. Incidentally, if you wanted your eBay item to look like a pile of junk, what better way to go than to photograph it on top of a pile of junk?

Yeah, I know, I was searching through completed items, but it wasn't listed anymore. I just wanted to see the picture of the remote, so thanks for the link.
