URC-6131n Audio/CC buttons

Post by pasha »

Folks,

I've got URC-6131n
this remote has two buttons one for Audio other one for CC

my question is: How to assign a different function to each one of them. Seams like I can assign it to Audio_CC and both buttons doing same stuff.

Please advise.

You can't, they're the same button.

Stupid: yes, anything we can do about it: no! :)

Well, actually, if you're into hardware mods, you could re-wire one of them to be a seperate button. We haven't written up how to do this yet, but if you think you wanna give it a try, we'll figure out what you have to do.

Many remotes have the button codes printed on the PCB in octal format, like S45 for example, this octal code tells you that this button comes from ports P0.4 and P1.5.

If you look at, let's say, buttons S45 and S46, even if they are far apart on the remote, you should expect connectivity between one side of the first button to one side of the second button. Then if you were to compare the S45 button with, let's say, S35, you should find that the other side of the S45 button will have connectivity with one side of the S35 button.

Therefore, if you were to isolate a button code that you know is not used, you should be able to figure out which traces to hook up the disconnected CC button to.

Also, just FYI, to convert the octal codes into the decimal keycodes that the remote understands, you not only need to convert from octal (base-8) to decimal (base-10) you also need to add 1, so the S00 button is decimal 1, for example.

Hey, I'm new to these jp1 remotes, and i just got one of these 6131n. I use it for xbmc on my xbox and its just great. It took me a few hours to sort through all the info and get it programmed right, and after i came across this thread i had to attempt the mod. I was succesfull at the hardware modding part, but i can't seem to get it programmed right. Can anyone help me out. I did just like the picture shows and i get a light when i push both of the buttons, but one sends out the signal its suppose to and the other seems to not send a signal that i can recognize with xbmc. I tried messing with the ir program and added the hex $38 button and i gave it a function, but my xbox picks up nothing when i push the button. It does light up and seem to act like a device toggle button, b/c none of the other buttons work after i push it unless i hit the pvr button again.

Thank you,
daniel
