I searched a long time for a free and generic Serial->Keypress converter before finding one that would work with my Creative CIMR-100 (which is an IR->RS232 receiver).
Basically, this program will emulate a keypress based on data received on the serial port. I have it configured for MCE using the MCE keyboard shortcuts.
When I press a button on the IR remote, MiriServer emulates a keypress on the computer.

A really excellent piece of software IMHO. |

So, if I understand your original question then, you are looking for a way to control your PC by remote control. There are several ways to do this.

How would we know if we know any "other" solutions when we don't know what your solution is? Would you care to share with everyone what solution you came up with? _________________ Rob

You need Winlirc, maybe girder, and to buy or build IR receiving hardware. |
