I have a DRC-400 remote that I would like to define a macro on. After defining the macro in IR (turning the TV and VCR on) and uploading I get no response when I press Bound key (in this case REC)
I can create the same macro on a RCU810 and it works fine.
So the question is can you define a Macro on any JP1 Remote or does the remote have to have a macro programming capability before it will work?
Second question: what is the "Shift" check box for in IR when creating a Macro? I don't see a shift button on any of the remotes that I have.
Thanks
Can you define a Macro on any JP1 Remote

I'm not sure if the DRC has any restrictions on macros. You might want to try another button.
As for Shift, that designates a shifted button. On most JP1 remotes, it's the same button as Setup, (P), (*), Magic, etc. To use a shifted button, press (do not hold) Shift followed by the button. For numeric buttons, the shift button needs to be pressed TWICE before the numeral (or else the remote wil think you trying to send an Advanced Code/EFC).
