List websites of manufacturer IR codes

Post by ClaudeS »

Is there a list of links to all the TV, VCR, etc manufacturers web sites that publish the IR codes for their products? A few weeks ago, I spent hours trying every EFC combination to try to discover extended codes for my Yamaha home theater. Then yesterday I discovered that Yamaha's web site http://www.yamaha.com/yec/customer/ir_codes.htm lists them all. Plus they include (under a different device code) a whole lot of really cool ones that even the orginal remote can't begin to do like turning on or off Speaker A or B, etc. It would be nice to have somewhere on this site a list of links by manufacturer to either the manufacturer's site or sites maintained by others (like the Sony site someone has done) that list codes. And simple instructions on how to translate the codes as listed on the site for KM. For instance the Yamaha site lists the device code in hex and calls it "Custom Code", and the OBC's in hex and call them "Data Code". The windows calculator in scientific mode can do the hex translation, etc. etc. I'm new so if this is already somewhere and I've missed it I apologize. I'd be happy to help doing this.

I made a start at that (and then Jon did all the real work). It's in the Yahoo JP1 group links area. I think this URL will work (after you join that group)

Thanks, I hadn't looked on Yahoo. It still might be useful to add quick "translation" instructions since some of these sites use different terms then we're used to. Might save some future posts too. I'll be adding an updated receiver 0176 KM with the 2-dev codes for all the new Yamaha features as soon as I test them.
