Does anyone know if there is a problem with the URC-7562 B00 with regard to sending OBCs? The procedure I use on my URC-8060 Euro Kameleon is to press Magic (Shift) and then the three numbers for the OBC and it would send the signal. Good for creating upgrades from scratch.
When I try the same thing with the URC-7562, the number keys start to light up after I've pressed the first of the three numbers in the code as if I'm sending 'Shift 3' instead of 'Shift 352'.
I can't use my Kameleon to do it, because the backlight doesn't work anymore. Perhaps someone knows how to fix it? The remote still works, but I can't tell what's going on.
Sending OBCs on URC-7562

This is perfectly OK, just continue pressing second and third number. When I try the same thing with the URC-7562, the number keys start to light up after I've pressed the first of the three numbers in the code as if I'm sending 'Shift 3' instead of 'Shift 352'.
Numbers you press after shift must be EFCs, not OBCs.
Sorry, wrong terminology.
I managed to get the Euro Kameleon to send EFCs to my VCR (that's what I'm trying to make the upgrade for). It's difficult to know what's going on without the backlight.
If I press 'Magic 363' with the Kameleon it activates the timer record function. If I press the same key combination with the 7562 nothing activates. The 7562 controls the VCR functions okay, so I know I have the device set properly. Any clues?
Could it be because i'm using an extender on the 7562?

The cool part of the Kameleon IS its backlight. Do you mean that you can't see any of the buttons lighting up or just that the )) and (( light-up bits aren't working when you try a code blink-out? If you can't see anything then has the EL brightness accidentally been turned down too low?I can't use my Kameleon to do it, because the backlight doesn't work anymore. Oh dear. You mentioned earlier about using an extender so I'm assuming that know what you're on about regarding the code side of things and have tried a factory reset and re-upload of last known working upgrade (which ought to fix things if the brightness or illumination duration were accidentally set to zero).
This leaves us with the unpleasant situation that either the little fireflies that cause the glow are all asleep or it's a hardware catastrophe - such as the driver unit (which sends current to the backlight and gives off a faint high-pitched buzz) or maybe just a loose connection. Since I have an 8040 (and a 7562 for that matter) I await with anticipation the report of your dissection of the 8060 in case the same problem happens to someone else.

If the driver unit you're talking about is a circular black thing about 10mm across with copper wire wound around it, you are right. It's labelled L2 (under the original hot glue) and had been knocked out of position. One of the copper wires was broken where it connects to the board. After some very fiddly work, I got it soldered back properly and glued back in place. Now it's working again.
It's nice to have it working, even though I don't use it anymore. I don't use the 7562 either, for that matter because I ordered an HTPro from BlueDo. It's an excellent remote that does so much more than the others at under $60 Australian including postage. When you consider that the 7562 cost me AU$85, I don't think I'll ever buy a local remote again.
