I got it to work OK. I get this for a result:

Protocol: NEC1
Device: 210.108
OBC: 71
EFC: 170

1. The device number is 210. Is the 108 the sub-device?

2. The Protocol is NEC1. The protocol for the upgrade I am currently using for this device is NEC1 Combo. Are the protcols similar enough to be able to just add the function to my curren upgrade or must I make a new one?

Correct.

You can add it to your current upgrade.

Imprecise terminology is the cause of the confusion here. NEC1 combo and NEC1 are two different executors for the SAME protocol. For a given device, subdevice and OBC they generate exactly the same signal. The difference between them is in which signals can be mixed together in one upgrade. The non combo version doesn't let you vary the device or subdevice.

Wow! It works!!! Thanks.

Now. I need to do the same for an Akai DVPS-760 DVD player. I have not had any replies on my post.

I found an upgrade #0570 some time ago and it works OK, but it lacks discretes. I can not even find that one now.

Any idea where I can find an upgrade with discrete on and off?

Thanks, Jonsfine!

I moved the Akai questions and answers over to the Akai thread...
