MOTOROLA VOOM DISCRETE ON OFF

With the help of the following post I found the discrete ON/OFF codes for Motorola/Voom satellite box. From what I have read in the short while that I have been here, Jon Armstrong who showed me how to find the codes through his suggestion will be greatly missed. It seems every search I do, his posts show up. My condolences to his family.

Discrete ON- OBC=03 EFC=012
Discrete OFF- OBC=08 EFC=146

Just add them with KM only If you will use the upgrade in the previous post, at least I couldnt get it to open right in RM.

YOU GUYS KICK A$$!!! I have learned SOOOO much in the last week its not even funny! I love my remote again!! good luck to all who could use this if it isnt somewhere on this site already but I searched high and low for this thing

Rob,

I just noticed the comment about being unable to load this upgrade into RM, so started looking into this protocol.

In the process, I noticed that this improved hacked protocol is not the one used by RM (although it is used be KM). In fact, the RM definition for this protocol (in protocols.ini) is incomplete. There is no fixed data, nor is there the Unit Code device parameter. How is the Unit Code encoded in the fixed or variable data?

I used the MANUAL protocol from the link I had in the post above but I am about to enter it into the original 0869 device code which is GI 4DTV protocol to see if it works. I finally got to "give back" thats awesome.

Ok something weird I just pulled out my RS 15-2133 for which I have NO NO JP1 hookup since I made my own cable to test with my 15-2117. I threw in code 0869 just to learn a few codes from that device to change a few keys I like on that code better(real EXIT function and INFO) and by mistake I pushed M2 and my system shut down sony receiver hitachi tv and the voom box.... I didnt program that in the remote!! and M1 turned everything on!!! These I am assuming correspond to the discrete codes I have input on my 2117 thru IR but I didnt do anything like that for the kameleon this is too weird!

The discrete codes only work with Robs hacked protocol although the buttons on the standard code 0869 works so much better than the original remote even did. The thing that is still freaking me out is the kameleon. All I did was change the device code to 0869. While checking the buttons I pressed the M1 and M2 buttons and the darn thing turned all my equipment on and off. I have NO macros in this remote, It must be something in the original 0869 code I am guessing.

Why then wont the discretes work when I add them as keymoves to the original setup using 0869 device code?

You can't use advanced codes with the official 4DTV protocol because it uses 2 bytes of variable data. My hacked protocol generates the checksum itself so it only needs 1 byte of variable data.

I have no idea what's going on with your 15-2133. You would need to make a pogo-pin adapter so you could download the memory for us to be able to see what's going on.

Btw, what's the latest on whether Zoom is going to survive? At one point their web site said they had closed down, then the next week it was back up again.

Sounds like a potential reality show to me, might just be the boost to the ratings that Zoom needs!
