When I try to use a Device Combiner upgrade using the Tivo(advanced) protocol and a RCA (original, not Combo) protocol, it freezes my RCU810 remote (IR send signal on LCD stays on) until I remove the batteries. I do not have any trouble creating it or uploading it to the remote. I have the same problem whether I use RM or KM (both most recent versions) to create the upgrade. Same thing when I just use the Tivo(advanced) protocol (the RCA part of the upgrade works fine) in the Device Combiner. The Tivo(advanced) protocol works fine when not using the combiner. The Tivo(official) protocol in the combiner does not freeze my remote, but my Directv Tivo does not respond to it. I have to use the Tivo(advanced).
I am doing this so I can turn my RCA TV on and select the SAT switch on my RCA VH920 Switcher when i hit the SAT button on my remote.

I don't know what's going on with the device combiner. You'll have to wait for someone with Device Combiner expertise. I'm sure it would make things easier for anyone who wants to help you if you would upload your IR and RM or KM files to the Diagnosis Area , then come back here and post links to them.
You didn't offer a lot of details of how you are trying to do this, but I don't think you need device combiner to do what you want, unless you need it for increased duration?
You can just use keymoves to use commands from different setup codes in a given device mode.

I setup the CBL device button with an upgrade using the RCA portocol with the Power On function (EFC 227) set to the phantom device. It works fine. When I press the CBL button the TV turns on and the switcher switches to SAT mode.
I tried to use a keymove to put that RCA On function (EFC 227) onto the SAT phantom device, but it would not work. I even tried DSM. It will work when that function is applied directly to the SAT button through an upgrade (even using the Device Combiner), but not a keymove. That is why I was trying a Device Combiner.
I do not have access to my IR and RM files right now, but I will post them later.
Thanks

If a device upgrade that uses the TiVo(Advanced) protocol would need a protocol upgrade, then a Device Combiner upgrade that uses that protocol would also need it.
From the Protocol Notes in RM for Device Combiner:
From the Protocol Notes in RM for Device Combiner:
The Device Combiner allows you to combine up to 16 different protocols into one Device Upgrade.
Any protocols specified in the Device Combiner MUST use 1-byte function commands.
NOTE: When using an upgraded protocol, the user MUST ensure that the protocol code is installed on the remote (using IR), as RemoteMaster has no way to verify this.

Absolutely!dabscott39 wrote:Well.......I pasted the protocol(s) that were in the RM output into IR after I finished creating the Device Combined upgrade. Are you saying that I need to paste the Tivo(advanced) protocol separately and in addition to the protocol(s) that were created in the Device Combiner into IR?
