There's 2 schools of thought here. One, if you only need learning once in a while, loading a non-extended image in IR then learning and decoding what's needed isn't all that difficult. Once the process is over, you simply restore your extended image and add the changes.

Second, if you find yourself learning that often (welcome to JP1!

), you should consider a second remote just for that purpose.

Reinstalling the extender is just a matter of uploading your saved IR file.

Folks,

I just found (via the Pronto codes for a Panasonic VCR player) that the discrete power codes for the HT810V (and, hopefully, other similar Panasonic units) are as follows:

Dev OBC EFC
=== === ===
Power OFF: 144 63 026
Power ON: 144 62 022

Hope this info is useful!

BTW, you have convinced me that using an extender is "the way to go". I'll be sure to save an IR copy of my current configuration so I can - hopefully - get back to a non-extended remote if and when the need arises.

Yes, I confirmed these on my HT810V unit. There is a good chance that they should work on your system (assuming that your current Power Toggle command is device 144 with EFC 024).

I just uploaded 3 KM files for the SC-HT810V & URC-6131, in the "HT System" section:
Panasonic SC-HT810V -- DVD Component
Panasonic SC-HT810V -- VCR Component
Panasonic SC-HT810V -- Tuner & Audio Component

These include the Power Off/Power On discretes; the VCR file also includes a discrete (Auxillary) Video Input select (OBC 144:0:203) -- quite useful in macros to select sound input from e.g. a cable box.

KM Setup sheet shows

The above MIX setup has nothing under sub 5.
Translates to 0, probably.
I suspect it might be 16. Does SFC work under 160.0 ?

Yes, 16 is correct. There is probably a bug in KM v8.31 -- for some reason, it removes that number when the sheet is loaded -- if you look in the original .txt file (with a text editor), the number is there. Also, the "fixed data" portion is correct even in KM.

Thanks for the speedy answer. Yup, the other numbers indicated 16, but I needed to be sure.

Two more questions, this time about the system itself.
1. Does 144.000:192 Video (AUX) Input Toggle mean toggle between TV or Aux?
2. I see that there is also Video (AUX) Input - Discrete video 144.005:203. Does this imply Aux is not video, but Audio only?

It's cool that they added the System discrete on and off functions, but one code makes me wonder what's going on in the design meetings at Panasonic

all three devices have standard codes for the number keys, except in the VCR section num 7=144.000:213 instead of 22

Woops - mea culpa. VCR/7 should indeed be 144:000:022 (EFC 118, not 112). I'll upload a corrected file now.

"AUX" was my wording - probably a misleading one at that. I was referring to the external video input. The toggle between the built-in TV tuner and the external video input ("TV/Video") is 144:000:192, whereas the discrete for the external input (not on the original remote) is 144:005:203.

I forgot a few codes in the DVD file too - I'll upload an amended version of that as well. Mainly, there is a code for toggling progessive scan (480p) output, and another one for turning progressive scan off.

There is also a "Factory Reset" code for the DVD (basically, revert all settings back to default) -- 176:000:70 (see correction below) (EFC 145). This can be useful if you experiment with various codes and get the system into a state that it cannot get out of otherwise. Mine would show "PR 02" on the front panel, the DVD display/status menus would be at the bottom of the screen instead of the top, some keys would not work, etc.

None of these keys were on the original remote.

Reset is serious business.
My own Panasonic DVD-S35 uses 176:000:70 (efc166) to Position memory.
Wayne's (wbrells) spreadsheet also indicates it's Position memory on HT810V.
Advanced codes spreadsheet on this site says:
obc241 efc145
obc70 efc166
I think I'm losing it

Ahem, again, I am the one "losing it"..

The spreadsheet is correct, and the EFC 145 is correct. My previous posting is incorrect -- EFC 145 translates to OBC 241 (not 70). "70" is the hexadecimal value, not the OBC.

To reiterate:
Factory Reset is OBC 176:000:241.

The differences between the 790, 800 and 810 models are only output wattage, and the 810 has speaker stands. The SC-HT820 has a 5-disc changer and Dolby Pro Logic II decoder (the previous ones only have the original Dolby Pro Logic) -- aside from that, all other remote codes are identical.
