Why did my URC-8810 suddenly stop working with ir?

Post by Dave W »

I'm beginning to feel like an idiot. I was making great progress understanding how to work with ir, then everything went south. I created a macro which worked okay. When I tried to upload a second macro to the M2 key and it failed. I then tried to download the remote. I got an error message which said, "No data found in signature . . ." The error message goes on to say that there is something wrong with the interface, so I tried it with my RS 15-1994 and it worked fine. I tried the 8810 without batteries and with a weak set of batteries. I get the same error either way. Also, the Boston Acoustics upgrade no longer works, nor does the original macro which had been working. The other devices (TV, cable box, and VCR) still work okay.

Any ideas what has happened and how to fix it?

Sounds like something went funky with one of the up or down loads. Just do a MFG reset and you should be good to go.

I think that you are correct, but how do you do that? I've been through the remote manual about 4 times and I can't find the setup code to clear the remote to the mfg. defaults. Do you know the procedure? Can I do that with ir somehow?

Press and hold SET until the LED blinks twice. Then enter 9-8-1. The LED should blink 2 sets of double flashes.
