Replacing all my 15-1994's - Need some buying advice
I have three 15-1994's and one RCU810, all tricked out nicely but starting to show their age. I want to replace them all with similar remotes that cost under $100 each. The buttons on the RCU810 wore out way before the other remotes, so I'm looking for new remote that will last awhile. The 15-2116 looks like a great replacement for the 15-1994, but it doesn't have dedicated macro buttons. The new 15-2144 Kameleon looks interesting since it has hard buttons too, but I'm unsure about the whole sensitivity issue and pogo-pinning. Are there any other remotes I should consider?
See FAQ - What's the Best JP1 Remote.
I personally feel that the Kameleons are all glitz and no substance.
I also think that a remote must have track-rewind ( |<< ) and track-forward ( >>| ) buttons. Special DVD buttons ( Audio, Subtitle, Angle) are nice-to-have, as are dedicated macro and/or learning buttons.
If you are a PVR user, by far the best JP1 remote has to the JP1-enhanced URC-6131.
If not, the URC-8810w/URC-8811 would be my next choice, although they are rather large (but if you liked the 15-1994 you'll be OK).

The URC-8011 is the same size as the URC-6131, but is otherwise very similar to the URC-8811, except for the fact that it doesn't have learning. It can play back commands learned using the URC-8811, it just can't learn them itself.
Also, the URC-8011 needs to be modified in order to be JP1 compatible.
I have a few URC-8011s on hand, so I could modify one for you and sell it to you for the same price as a URC-6131 if you like.

Just FYI, from a programming point of view, the 8011 and 8811 are exactly the same remote, so you could (for example) load the IR file from your 8811 into the 8011 and it would work.

Unfortunately, they're red. I have a couple of green URC-6011s if that's preferable.
