New 15-2116 Owner with questions
Hi.
I just picked up a 15-2116 at Rat Shack today, last one left at the store, and I have a few questions. I also just ordered a JP1 cable.
The reason I purchased the remote was so I could create a replacement remote for my Optimus Pro Logic Reciever. I have lost the remote to the device and there are no replacements to be found anywhere. I've looked for a full week now.
There are some special functions on my reciever for the surround sound and speaker levels that I cannot adjust without the remote. There are no buttons on the reciever itself to make the adjustments.
So I guess I'm asking if it is possible to update my remote with the STAV-3680 or 3690 reciever codes. Or, could I update it with the 15-1994 or 1995 codes, since those remotes actually have the STAV-3680 codes in them from the factory?
The Reciever is model STAV-3680, Cat No. 31-3039.
Manual is here:

If you don't know what setup code you need for the STAV-3680, it may take a fair amount of experimentation. Some of those Optimus devices are relabeled Pioneer devices (which should be quite easy to identify the right JP1 upgrade for). But apparently others are not Pioneer. See this thread:
http://www.remotecentral.com/cgi-bin/mb ... ht=optimus
I also found an LIRC file that tells me the STAV-3560 is a pretty generic Pioneer device (and gives details):
http://lirc.sourceforge.net/remotes/optimus/STAV-3560
But I don't see anything on the STAV-3680

Thanks for the prompt replies.
The information I gathered was from this page
http://support.radioshack.com/support_v ... /58321.htm
It's for the 150-1994 remote which I assume is the 15-1994?
Listed under the Tuners/Receivers section.
It's the same 1023 code used on most remotes for the Pioneer and Optimus Receivers. My 15-2116 remote does all the basic functions but it will not let me go in and adjust the sound levels for each of the five 100 watt amps.
There was a slide control on the STAV-3680 remote labeled Audio/Surround and there was also a C mode button.

This has become a very different question than I thought you were asking.
You have a Pioneer device (rebranded Optimus) that is basically supported by the Audio/1023 setup code in the 15-2116. You want to know how to add support for some functions that are missing from Audio/1023 (and you lack the original remote to learn from).
I think some of those functions may be supported by KeyMoves using the setup code Amp/0013. I don't know whether those are the ones in the advanced codes list for Amp/0013
http://www.hifi-remote.com/cgi-bin2/ueic.cgi?amp_0013
That's about as far as you could go before you get the JP1 cable.
Once you have the cable, you should look for existing JP1 upgrade files that are extension of Audio/1023. Most of the Pioneer files in the audio folder should be that
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/jp1/files ... des/Audio/
and/or you should look at the Pioneer master list file that Rob put there.
If you need more details, try to ask more clearly and hopefully a Pioneer expert (such as Rob himself) will address the Pioneer specific aspects of your question.

Thanks for the help.
I'll try to be more clear next time, but it is kinda hard to describe things when I'm completely new to all this stuff. I wasn't sure if I wanted to add more codes to the Audio/1023 or just get the file from an older remote. In other words, I didn't know if 1023 for the 15-2116 is the exact same file as the 1023 in the 15-1994.
For now I'll just try to find out what a KeyMove is and how to test them on my remote before I ask anymore questions.

They're essentially the same, at least when it comes to core functionality.Optimus Prime wrote:In other words, I didn't know if 1023 for the 15-2116 is the exact same file as the 1023 in the 15-1994.
Unfortunately, Audio/1023 uses 2-byte commands so you can't do them on the remote itself. You'll need a JP1 cable and IR in order to program them into your configuration. For now I'll just try to find out what a KeyMove is and how to test them on my remote before I ask anymore questions.

I think the note Rob put in devices.xls (and I think elsewhere) indicates that Audio/1023 in the 15-1994 is defective. Maybe I misunderstood. But whether it's defective in the 15-1994 or not, it's correct(ed) in the 15-2116.Mark Pierson wrote:They're essentially the same, at least when it comes to core functionality.
The KeyMoves comment was in reference to using AMP/0013 KeyMoves to fill in some of the gaps in Audio/1023. You can't program Audio/1023 EFC codes directly on the remote itself, but you can program AMP/0013 based EFC KeyMoves into a device mode that is programmed for Audio/1023, even without JP1. I think that specific combination has been discussed in several threads in the RC OneForAll forum:Mark Pierson wrote:Unfortunately, Audio/1023 uses 2-byte commands so you can't do them on the remote itself. Waiting for the JP1 cable may be the better choice. These things get much easier with JP1.

Exactly how do I download an upgrade file.
For instance this file:
http://www.hifi-remote.com/cgi-bin2/ueic.cgi?amp_0013
Is not a file.
How do I make it a file so I can load it in KM?
Do I copy and paste it as a txt file?
If so what parts do I copy?

You are correct, that isn't an upgrade file. Those are just advanced codes that can be used with setup code AMP/0013.
If you are looking for a device upgrade for this device, I suggest you follow johnsfine's suggestion and look in the Audio folder in the Files sections, for the Pioneer Master List.
