BenQ 6200 projector

Post by mangler »

Hello,

Yes, I know there are .txt files for both the 6100 and the 6200. But unless I am not reading them correctly, they do not have the menu button mapped. I like my menu button (second most used, after on/off  ).

My present hardware :

JVC RX-7520VBK receiver (I figure the 8020 file will do)
Denon DVD-910 DVD player (good text file)
lite-on SK-7551 IR keyboard (I can't believe its there!)
27 inch Sony trinitron TV (not worried, easy support)
BenQ 6200 projector (incomplete files?)

Does anyone have a homebrew BenQ 6200/6100 file with menu button mapped? Do not have the remote handy...

BTW, after goint through the motions in Remotemaster, how do i save the whole profile under a large rmdu file? How do i verify my progress? It feels like everytime I load a device, I start over...

TIA

P.S. Many thanks to Rob, for the 8811 remote, and the great JP1 community support. I am still amazed a sub 30$ remote can do all this!

If you read the #1 FAQ thread, you'll see that you can use your learning remote to capture the MENU button from your original BenQ remote.

Of course, I'm assuming that you still have the original remote. If you had used the required template I'd know for sure.

Same story for the rest of your devices, if you have the original remotes.

Not sure I understand your question. RM and KM are used to create/edit individual device upgrades. These are then aggregated into IR by installing them as devices.

Shows what lack of reading will do

I have made progress, and loaded all my files with IR. (A little reading of the beginner's guide helped alot...). Actual testing with my equipment this week-end...

I still have what I feel is a major problem. The BenQ 6100 projector text upgrade file seems to have been programmed for a Radioshack remote. When I try to open it into Remotemaster, with my URC-8811 as the remote type, it won't have it. It tells me it does not recognize the remote, and gives me a drop down list of remotes to choose from, all radio shack models. Is this file useless for me? Will I have to (gulp) make my own from scratch?

This is the offending file :

Also, what online document covers upgrade file modifications best for newbies?

Thanks alot for your patience. I kinda skipped the basics when I finally got my homemade JP1 cable to work

When you first load the upgrade into RM, you are asked to select the remote that the upgrade was originally created for. This is because RM and KM don't use exactly the same names for remotes.

Once that has been done, you can then change the remote to be the one you will actually be using.

Follow the link in my sig. to the JP1 How Tos and Tools, and then read the "JP1 - Just How Easy Is It" document, and the addendum for RM users.

Do you have all the RDFs stored on your PC, including the 8811 RDF?

You also need to read the sticky thread about posting links to Yahoo files (link in my sig)

And there's a version of it for RM, the link to which is in the beginners forum[/quote]

I tested my remote program this week-end, and everything works, except the Denon DVD-910.

I suspect its because it has and upgrade protocol code also, and I did not quite know what to do with it.

The device upgrade code looks pretty standard :

Upgrade code 0 = 15 d2 (DVD/1490) Denon DVD-910 Upgrade (RM v1.13)
47 00 be fe fe e1
e8 81 e8 41 e8 c1 e8 21 e8 a1 e8 61 e8 e1 e8 11
e8 91 e8 51 e8 29 e8 5d e8 8d e8 b5 e8 49 e8 59
e8 bd e8 f5 e8 89 e8 b9 e8 05 e8 09 e8 d9 e8 75
e8 dd e8 85 e8 35 e8 e5 d8 79 e8 3d d8 f9 e8 19
e8 99
KeyMoves
22 f4 15 d2 e8 03«Power off»¦
25 f4 15 d2 e8 f1«Angle»¦
26 f4 15 d2 e8 b1«Subtitle»¦
27 f4 15 d2 e8 71«Audio»
End

But there is also info in the Upgrade protocol Code **required** box

Upgrade protocol 0 = 00 47 (S3C80) Denon Combo (RM v1.13)
3d 92 02 8b 16 49 05 08 00 84 01 75 00 84 03 87
83 c2 00 00 00 00 00 00 03 5f a0 20 10 0c 05 76
03 01 6b 0d e4 25 1c e4 26 1d 0c 03 09 12 e6 24
02 18 03 90 c1 0a fc 19 05 b0 c6 60 04 60 05 f6
01 46 60 c6 eb f5 f6 01 0a 7b ee af
End

This time I selected the dvd-910 in the devices tab (in IR 6.0), and then I pasted the protocol info by doing "add" in the protocols tab. Should this take care of my problem? Any other steps?

Thanks

PS Can you tell me why this device needs an update to the protocol?

THe protocol upgrade was required because the device upgrade uses it, but it isn't built into your remote. The device upgrade won't work without it.
