I'm new at this, but fascinated. However, I must be doing something wrong. I've got the OFA URC-8910 remote, and there are no built in codes for my CyberHome DVD player (CH-DVD300). I found a .txt file someone uploaded to the files section (it's not straight hex code, so maybe it's not the correct format for me?), and I tried to generate a .wav file using the IR2WAV java script provided in tools section. However, the resulting .wav file is very short, maybe 10 secs or less to play, and errors out my remote. I am entering the proper "signature" ID for my remote CPT0, and the software works in that it does generate a .wav with no error messages.
I tried all sorts of orientations of the remote to the speaker, after reading posts on that topic. But then I read that the .wav files are 2k in length and generally take up to 2 minutes to run.
Any suggestions? I think what's needed is a primer for us who don't have JP1 cables and want to use our built in spkr/modem-enabled remotes' capabilities.
Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

I'm afraid you need a lot more than just IR2WAV.
1) You need either the RemoteMaster program or the KM spreadsheet to customize that upgrade for your remote (and your prefrences) and copy it onto the clipboard for IR.EXE
2) You need IR.EXE to create a new eeprom image for an 8910, then add that upgrade from the clipboard, then export the upgrade section of the eeprom image to IR2WAV. (It takes care of that signature stuff for you).
Yes, a primer for the whole .wav process would be nice, but I don't have time to write it.

THanks, you got me off to a good start.
I got as far as loading and running RM (the java, not the spreadsheet, because I don't have Excel).
I don't see any option for "saving to clipboard" what I loaded into RM.
When I try to "save" or "save as" it simply tries to re-write the same rmdu file I loaded up. It does have an "import from clipboard" option, but I thought the point here was to get the information across to the IR.exe program to create the hex image...
I guess I'm still a bit confused here. Sorry.

Take a look at this...
http://controlremote.sourceforge.net/rmhelp/rmhelp.html
You'll notice that you are supposed to cut & paste the upgrades from RM to IR (look at image 5.8)

It's in the Programs folder in the JP1 Yahoo group.stephenw4 wrote:Can you point me to the right place to download the software?
