I have a Replay5000 remote that I've installed the extender on. I'd
like to create a device that has function codes attached to the shifted
keys. While shifted keys work in macros, I haven't been able to get KM
to allow me to assign codes to them whenever the Remote type is set to
"Replay 5000" - the shifted key column is always greyed out.

Is there a different Remote type I should use in KM to recognize the
shifted key capability enabled by the extender?

Thanks,
Steve

Currently, KM doesn't support the R5K extended remote, which is why you can't assign any shifted buttons. Key moves need to be setup manually in IR.

I was going to add the R5K Extender remote to the list of available remotes in KM (like the 6131 Extender). However, I came across this in the extender readme:

Quote:
This remote doesn't support key moves even with this extender, however, you can achieve the similar effect by DSMs. Unlike real key moves, the function must be assigned to a physical button in the key map in a device upgrade which is tied to a device index. Also, you may need to include a device selection command (X_TV, etc.) in the DSM if it is from other device index (perhaps this is almost always the case, though). This is somewhat cumbersome and less economical, but at least you can do it when it is really necessary.

Apparently, you can't use Key Moves at all on the R5K, and shifted buttons can only be used in macros. Sad

Too bad. It looks like I'll have to use the macros which is fine so far because I don't need too many shifted keys yet but I can see it quickly becoming unwieldy.

Thanks for the info.
