USB Interface Problem

Hi, I just got a USB interface from Filebug and on 3 different computers I gqt the message"SDA is being held low." I've tried changing the batteries and reversing one of the batteries but to no avail. I tried a search with the above message but haven't found anything referring to SDA as of yet. A little guidance would be appreciated.

Check with a voltmeter to see if it is really low., and VCC is high.

Try read wot test with the JP1 end disconnected from the remote.

What remote are you using?
What type of computers do you have?
Have you tried a different remote yet to isolate the problem?
Are you sure you are not pluging it in backwards?
Does it work with the batteries removed completely?
Have you been able to upload or download any data?
What version of IR are you using?
What is your transmission delay set to? If zero, try a higher # - 250, 500, or 750.

RS 15-2117.

What type of computers do you have?

A Dell 2400 running XP Pro, a low end Compaq running XP and a Toshiba Laptop also running XP Pro.

Have you tried a different remote yet to isolate the problem?

I have tried a second 15-2117.

Are you sure you are not pluging it in backwards?

Yes, but as an experiment I just tried reversing the plug and got the same message.

Does it work with the batteries removed completely?

No.

Have you been able to upload or download any data?

I can upload, after unchecking "Auto Check" but get a msg back that the data read is not the same as written.

What version of IR are you using?

5.07 extender 3.

What is your transmission delay set to? If zero, try a higher # - 250, 500, or 750.

Tried 0,250,400,750.

I had problems with my 2117 but it turned out to be the cable I built. I have been pulling off the connector with the wires and well they must have streached a bit.

Anyhow in this thread http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3148 capntrips has a post about putting one battery in backwards while doing up/downloads.

Hi,
I had the same problem with an One For All remote model number URC-8910. I received the message "SDA being held low. Make sure batteries are installed in remote". I tried new batteries with no luck. For some reason I decided to reverse the 6 pin JP1 Connector plugged into my remote. Instead of the cable pointed towards the bottom as I had seen and read about, I reversed the cable and pointed it up towards the top. It worked, so I guess somehow the wiring got reversed either in my connector or in the remote. Try this and see if it solves your problem.
