Dreambox-Xbox

Post by _Morph_ »

I have a dreambox remote. I also have a Xbox remote. I want to control my xbox with my dreambox remote. :) Can this be done? Are there a friendly sole out there who can help a newbie with a step to step guide if this can be done?

Sure, here goes...

1) Download the xbox upgrade file.
2) Open up either KM or RM
3) Load the xbox upgrade
4) Change the selected remote to Dreambox (v1 or V2, whichever you have)
5) Connect remote to JP1 cable and download using IR.exe
6) Copy upgrade from KM or RM to IR
7) Load and enjoy

(Obviously, if you want the more detailed step by step, you'll have to read the beginners documentation).

Do you have the official Microsoft remote kit or do you have some cheap knock-off version? If you have the MS version, what you did should work. The knock off versions use different signals.

Have you loaded upgrades before? I'm asking to get an idea of how comfortable you are with the process and therefore, how comfortable you are that you loaded the upgrade correctly. Your post count is only at 7 so unless you tell me different, I'm assuming you are a beginner.

I didn't see anything wrong in the steps you outlined, so I guess the next thing for you to do is zip together your KM and IR files and post it in the Diagnosis Area for one of us to look at.

Please post a link to the file when your done, but please read the thread that explains how to post links first.

How do you open .rar files? If you don't have the ability to zip files, just load them raw.

Zip is the standard, so it's a better idea to use it rather than rar. I tried opening your file with Winzip and it wouldn't open.

Post a link when you're done.

Well that was easy, you don't have the DVD/0522 code assigned to a device button.

Nope, now you have TV/0522 assigned to the TV button, but you still don't have DVD/0522 assigned to any of them.
