No response from interface

Post by dwpoet »

I'm new to JP1. My OS is XP Home edition.

Yesterday I downloaded IR402.zip and installed the files in a new Program Files dir, and Decode_IR_DLL.zip and copied DecodeIR.dll to Windows\System and Windows\System32 dirs.

No matter what, I get "No response from interface", trying to use the parallel port. I've tried with JP1 cable, no cable, and printer connected. I've verified that my Parallel Port address is 378.

I also tried on my old Win 95 system and got the same error. Should it work on Win 95?

What should I try next?

IR is currently up to version 5.1?... you should install the latest version.

You didn't mention what model remote, but have you tried with batteries, without batteries, and if it's a 4-battery remote, with one battery reversed during the download?

Also, under WinXP, you must have admin rights on your user account.

Problem solved!

According to the document "Simple Interface Rev 5", I expected to get an error message 'Always reading "1" (or "0")' with no cable connected, something else with printer connected. That didn't happen.

I found a problem with my cable and now it works fine. I have Win XP Home with SP2 and a new RS 15-2117. Downloads work with all battteries installed.
